States in USA Quessie

Hi all

You must think me mad but in order to know all about my kind hosts at DISCon I have been teaching myself USA geography, so that I know where you all come from.

But I am confused how many states does USA have I thought it to be 52 but once I typed my list I only got 51 - am I a clutz or wot?

Obviously I don't know which one is missing or are there only 51?

Also would someone be able to direct me to a good link that has the abbreviations for each state that would help me a lot.

Obviously I'll be testing all attendees on "counties" in England in December

I think you threw in an extra one. There are only 50 states.

You might have seen District of Columbia as (DC). That's Washington DC. It's not a state but it's where the White House and the US Government is.
