My DH is currently deployed and will hopefully be coming home for a 2 week leave in the summer before going back for another 6-8 months. Anyway, I have booked a 4 nights at Disney followed by a 3 night Disney cruise and then another night at Disney and then coming home for a few days before he leaves again. We have three kids (9, 6 and 3) who will be traveling with us. I have reserved two category 5 connecting staterooms both for the extra space and to give DH and I some privacy. But I'm wondering if it is worth the extra money or if we should just go for the category 5 family stateroom. What do you all think?

Did you mean a Category 4 family stateroom? That one holds 5--I don't think you have an option for 5 in a category 5.

One thing to consider is how you will be staying at WDW--if you have two rooms or a suite there, it might not bother you as much to share a room on the ship. If you're squeezing into 1 room while running around Disney, then it would be a great treat to have a little more space on the ship.

If you can do it financially, I say by all means have the two rooms. I'm assuming your dh is in the military, and if he is going to be gone again soon, this would be an extra special trip after a lot of stress on both of you--you deserve it!

Thanks Amy - I'm thinking that yes, DH and I will enjoy a little privacy. We are all staying in one room while at Disney (Beach Club, Shades of Green & Poly) and I"m thinking a little privacy while on the ship would be great! He is deployed with the military and will be leaving again a few days after we get back from Florida.

Edited to add - you are right a Cat 5 would not accommodate all five of us. We have reserved (well I have, DH doesn't even know yet!!) TWO category 5 staterooms with a connecting door.

why the cat.5's and not cat. 6's since apparently there is some consideration to the budget. Have stayed at SOG with my DoD sister's family, loved it, and that was before the massive expansion, hope you enjoy that very much.

Not trying to be off topic, but thank you both for all that you are doing for our country!!!! Have a great trip! :flower:

Amy (sorry to be off topic) I will pass your thanks on to my DH. I know he is homesick and misses the kids terribly. But he feels he has a job to do, so he plods on. He's got several hundred 21 year old guys who are away from home for the first time and so he has his hands full!

I say go for the two rooms. I'm sure after being packed into a hotel room, you would enjoy the two baths, two TVs, etc.

Not only what everyone else said but if you haven't seen your husband for months and won't be seeing him for months more, I'm sure the privacy will be appreciated as well. If you can at all swing it moneywise then you should definitely do the two cabins. You deserve the opportunity for a little couple time too.

It would probably be cheaper for you to have the extra connecting room when you are at Shades of Green than on the ship.

Also--you're staying in 2 different resorts during your 4-night stay at WDW? That's a lot of moving around.
