Can anybody please tell me the difference between Cat 5 statrooms and Cat 6. Do they both have varandahs? Also we are in room 6144 does anybody know if this has connecting doors to the next room and if so, can you hear the guests next door? or more to the point can they hear us?:earsgirl: :hyper:

the difference between cat 5 and cat 6 is the deck that each is on...both are staterooms with verandahs....

6144 is aft, port side...it is not an adjoining stateroom, but the staterooms next to it are...

check out Dave's website at www.dcltribute.com for deck plans and other good stuff

Don't forget cost, 5's are more money for the same room, different deck.

We have stayed in both 5 and 6. Same rooms -- different decks.

We have also had both connecting and non-connecting. The connecting room doors are double insulated. We have NEVER heard anyone next door in either room. We have, however, heard people out on their verandahs.

I don't "get" why anyone chooses a category 5 -- it's the same as a category 6, but with a higher price! Unless, of course, the category 6s are sold out.

Mrs. Pete:

The only reason we had to take a Category 5 was to avoid being near the laundry room in Category 6 because port side was sold out. Otherwise, there really is no other reason, you're right. But it was worth the extra few bucks to be on port side.

invaderzim ~ Why is the port side better?

It's not that it's better -- but the only rooms they had available by the time I got through were either at the back of the ship or near the laundry room on Deck 7. My goal was to go to port side to avoid the laundry room on a 14-day cruise because we had that side last time on our 7-day cruise and it can get busy with kids running up and down between the laundry room and their staterooms. We had particular problem with two teenage girls who apparently thought any hour of the night was okay to run up and down screaming. We didn't have that problem on our previous cruise when on port side.

HOWEVER, lest I sound like a negative post -- I would not worry if you have a starboard room. We got great views from that side when docked -- especially on Castaway Cay because the room faced the island instead of the dock.

There really is no "bad" room on the ship -- it was just our preference for our fourth cruise to be on port side.
