Last OCtober we cruised the magic and took 12pack beer and 12 pack soda on ship to keep in stateroom. We thought in room refrigerator meant that but I guess just cooler but we even iced down drinks sink then put in our stateroom cooler box and didn't stay cool at all. By morning was room temp again. Is this typical of everyone else's experience or maybe was there something wrong with ours? I could not tell if it was just like insulated cooler or acutally had electrical outlet to cool.
Because of this, we think we shouldn't try it this year.
Thanks for input. fozzy

It is a cooler and is supposed to keep drinks cool. It's not a fridge, but one of those coolers like the car plugin ones you can find everywhere now.

You should have reported it to maintenance immediately, they are very prompt on dealing with cabin issues.

We had the exact same experience - it wasn't cold at all. I agree we should have called maintenance, but it sounds like this is a pretty common thing on board. I opt for ice in the sink or in a trash can!

Oh my Beano - I haven't heard of using a trash can to ice beverages since my college days! Seems I always end up ROTFL when I read your posts!

Thanks for the bright spot in my days!

Deb - You're welcome. :)

Anytime I can brighten someone's day- that's a good day!

A trash can full of ice is 10 times colder than the beverage coolers anyway!! And there are few things in life worse than warm beer!

My husband is from England and even he doesn't like warm beer. Thanks for the warning -

I think we are going to bring an expandable cooler on board.

But if not, we will use the trash can method - We can all pretend to be college age again!

here's to cold beer!

We kept a 2 six packs of soda in the cooler, and it kept them quite cool. Since I like things really cold, I added ice (not so nice with beer!). I think something was wrong with your cooler - it definitely should not have been room temp!

Well, guess what I do for a living, I'm a maintenance mechanic for a large industrial plant. And while I do have a plan for overall preventative maintenance, there are a good number of things I do rely upon the people who use the equipment to notify me of when a particular machine isn't working right. I would suspect the cooler falls into this category, so, it won't ever get fixed unless it is reported, so don't feel bad doing so, the maintenance people are probably expecting you to. :D

Three Disney Cruises so far and our cooler worked fine.

The cooler was good to keep soda a little cool but I would never trust it to keep milk or anything that could spoil cold.

Our worked fine but they did recommend putting a cup or 2 of ice in with the drinks. We did that and ours stayed very cool. Actually on the 7 day cruise we only changed the ice once. It didnt even melt. Hope this helps. Have fun!! ;) :) :p

thats a great tip Mostyn17...I never thought of keeping ice in the cooler

Ours worked better this time than the last time we cruised. BUT we did have milk go bad after leaving it in there a couple days. One day (with a bag of ice next to it) worked fine. My DD likes her milk right away when she wakes up and the rest of us need time to get ready, so we ordered milk and cookies everynight and bagged up ice and put that in the ridge at night for her to have in the morning as we were getting ready.

P.S. The cheese tray from room service is WONDERFUL, but next year I am taking a box of Club Crackers with me because we always ran out of crackers before all the cheese was gone. Also, the PB & J was the BEST PB & J we had ever had! We LOVED room service!

Great idea on the ice mostyn17 ! Ours is always cool (hence the name) but never really cold. This would certainly give it that little extra push.

We too thought of crackers, then tried asking when we called for additional crackers--not a problem! Actually, we then ran short of cheese. Room service, like everything else, will do whatever they can to make you happy! They even brought Mickey ice cream bars! (The only down side is going back to the parks and having to pay whenever you want one. . .at least it's better for the waist line.)
