My husband and I are considering booking our first ever Disney Cruise for December 2006. We are looking at a 3 night cruise and will be bringing our two sons, who will be 6 and 3 at the time of the cruise.

For all of you veteran cruisers, which size stateroom would you suggest? We are getting quotes for the Category 5 rooms, but don't know if we will need that high of a category for a 3 night cruise. Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :teeth:

What room to book is a hard question to answer. We always book a Cat 11 or 10 and have a great time spending our money on other things....spa. We do not miss the window or verandah, but others can't live without those. How much time do you plan to be in your cabin? We sleep and change there. Others spend time in cabin while children nap, or just quiet time. We spend our quiet time at the Cove Cafe or on deck 4 lounge chairs. Again this allows us to spend our $$ on things we enjoy. Sorry this does not answer your question very well, but I am sure that the reason so many options are available is so that everyone's needs are met. DH keeps saying he would like to try a Cat 3, but I just calculate how many sea weed wraps or massages the difference in money will buy. :flower:

we just did our first 3 night this past Feb. we had cat 9 room 2516 it was a great room deck 2 forward big 3 foot diameter window ... we did not spend much time in the room so it was fine and the price was quite reasonable. We are going on the 7 night next Feb and took a verhanda room for that cruise ... I would say start small and if you like it you can always go big. On the flip side
go for the verhanda and enjoy the air in the mornings either way I dont think you will be in the room too much

Have a great trip

We have stayed in both a category 8 & 10 which are the exact same sized rooms, with our two kids who were 3 & 5 on our first cruise. We had plenty of room & didn't miss the window much at all on our second cruise. Space wise, the category 5-10 are the same interior square footage. The verandah is included in the extra amount in the passporter. :) For a 3 day & would definantly go for the 10.

Thank you for the great responses. I am thinking that a window maybe less stressful for me than a veranda with my youngest, who will be 3 at the time. He is a big climber and little daredevil! :teeth:

My understanding is that it is near impossible for your 3yo to "leave the ship". The lock on the verandah door is very high and hard to unlock, the door is heavy to open and there's plexiglass over the railings making it impossible to climb. The 3yo if left outside unattended could concievably climb onto the furniture and somehow make it up on the railing but that is really stretching my imagination.

Since you'll be only on a 3 or 4 nighter, any of the rooms on the ship are good (well they are even good on 7, 10 and 14 night cruises). But with the short cruise, you are only in the room to change clothes, take a potty break, take a nap. The rest of the time you will be doing something somewhere else on the ship. Remember ALL stateroom categorys share ALL of the common areas on the ship.

except at night when your on deck 1 & 2 and the close the gates so you cant move up to the higher levels .... ;)

Seriously like I said before any level is great but for a short cruise I would save some money and go for Cat 9
