My mil and I were in room 6500 on the Magic last Sept. I was kinda bummed about not having the split bath, but we survived. The large porthole was a great thing, since I'd never had a porthole before!! The walk was kinda long, but it was a deserted hallway almost all the time. We got really good at choosing a different elevator and going to our deck then going to the room, rather than going along deck 9, 3, etc and then down the froward elevators.
As an FYI, when my husband, niece and I cruised in May and ended up in 7636, a handicapped room way in the BACK!! We had booked late, less than 60 days til the cruise, and were surprised to get a handicapped room. Especially since the reason we ended up in 6500 in Sept was because we couldn't get a handicapped room with a verandah even though we booked 8 months in advance! Weird!!
I must say, too, that the extra room is a great thing, but in my opinion, the split bath makes the regular rooms a better deal. I know a lot of people think others can get a handicapped room just for the extra room, but we had to get a Drs note telling about my mil's condition(s) before they'd do the handicapped room. She's 82 and can't walk too far, needs wheelchairs for distances and needs the bars in the bathroom.
I know a lot of people kinda looked at us funny when we mentioned the room we were in, but I made sure people knew it was a Disney choice, not ours!!
