If I'm not mistaken, that's a wheelchair accessible room. The room is nice - larger that a typical cat 9 room with a very roomy bathroom. The downsides are no split bathroom and no tub - the water shloshes all over the bathroom and is caught by drains around the bathroom, so be sure not to put anything on the floor in the bathroom. Another downside was a lack of couch and only 1 chair, so for my wife and I to both sit, one of us had to use the bed.

The room was at the very end of the hall and very quiet. No complaints really and if the room were being offered as an upgrade from a cat 10 or lower, I'd probably take it.

Here's a picture of room 6000 - same as 6500 but on the other side of the ship.

Were were in 6528 on the wonder and it was great. I wouldn't think there would be a problem.

Thanks for posting the pic, Sam. We were actually supposed to sail on the 9/9 Wonder and due to flight and family issues (DBF's mom is in the hospital), we had to rebook on the 9/30 Wonder.

They told me they could put us in a Category 8 (we were originally booked in a Category 6, room 5644 aft) -- they gave us a small refund - this room is listed as a Category 8 on the Deck plans -- as is 6000.

The room looks cozy. I'm sure we'll be fine - did the motion of the ship bother you at all right up front? I've never cruised before.

I'm surprised they assigned this room - I would think they'd wait to see if they had passengers who needed it?? We were a "GTY" for a while - does that mean our room assignment could still change??

No problem at all upfront w/ motion.

My camera doesn't do justice for showing the size of the room - it is definitely larger than a typical cat 6-cat 10 room.

The room is not as far forward as you might think. Find a picture of the ship and then locate the bridge. It's the furtherest porthole down from and in front of the bridge, so there's still a fair amount of bow left to go completely forward.

Oh very cool!! I am extremely happy - thanks Sam!! Heck, at this point we are just so excited about cruising - and I kind of like the idea of being right under all the "adult" activities - :) we are much closer to the SPA now :)

My mil and I were in room 6500 on the Magic last Sept. I was kinda bummed about not having the split bath, but we survived. The large porthole was a great thing, since I'd never had a porthole before!! The walk was kinda long, but it was a deserted hallway almost all the time. We got really good at choosing a different elevator and going to our deck then going to the room, rather than going along deck 9, 3, etc and then down the froward elevators.

As an FYI, when my husband, niece and I cruised in May and ended up in 7636, a handicapped room way in the BACK!! We had booked late, less than 60 days til the cruise, and were surprised to get a handicapped room. Especially since the reason we ended up in 6500 in Sept was because we couldn't get a handicapped room with a verandah even though we booked 8 months in advance! Weird!!

I must say, too, that the extra room is a great thing, but in my opinion, the split bath makes the regular rooms a better deal. I know a lot of people think others can get a handicapped room just for the extra room, but we had to get a Drs note telling about my mil's condition(s) before they'd do the handicapped room. She's 82 and can't walk too far, needs wheelchairs for distances and needs the bars in the bathroom.

I know a lot of people kinda looked at us funny when we mentioned the room we were in, but I made sure people knew it was a Disney choice, not ours!! :)

Kelli

See - that's exactly what I thought was a little odd, Kelli - we didn't request a handicapped room! I mean, neither of us needs it - so I don't know why they wouldn't save this room to make sure nobody does???

They must think that if someone isn't already on the waitlist, they aren't coming!! :p

Enjoy the extra space, but I really do think the inconvenience of the bathroom makes up for it! And I agree, don't put anything on the floor you don't want wet! Also, watch the call buttons, THEY DO WORK!!!! Don't ask how I know that!!! :p

:p ROFL about the call buttons Kelli - that's a riot!

I don't think we'll care about the bathroom, honestly - I mean...it's not like we're dying to take a bath while we're cruising anyway - LOL - and I guess we'll just watch how we slosh around - LOL.

We could end up getting bumped anyway if someone really needs the room :)

I am excited for the extra space - but kind of wish we still got a couch :( I know...I'm such a whiner!! LOL

Let me add that since my wife and I were celebrating our 8th anniversary without the kids when we stayed in 6000, I considered the big shower an asset - not a liability. So I reckon it all depends on your perspective. :teeth:

Sam

:teeth: You are speaking my language, Sam....ROFL...I had the EXACT same thought about the shower - LOL!!!

Didn't want to say it...so I played it safe with the "slosh around" comment...LOL.

I love these boards! I don't know what I'd do without all the information we've gathered here!

It looks like it might be nice and secluded too :) We are traveling without kids as well and hoping for a nice, romantic sailing without hurricanes!!

 :scared1: Geez, I sure missed that one.........I'm awake now...... :wave2:

Yeah... get a bit of mud and you've got your own Surial Bath right there in room 6500. ::yes::

We were in 6502 and the motion of the boat was no any greater than when we were midship for shows/events.

Thanks Kathy - it really was the motion of the boat I was most worried about - I've heard rumors about being too far forward.

I never get seasick on small boats, but you just never know....
