We shop Buffalo all the time. We even catalogue and online shop and have items shipped there. Have often thought of going to Michigan...some big Malls there in Flint and Troy I believe? Anyone been there? Realize that this would require overnighting but we're girls ..so that's ok!

Thanks!

Never been to Michigan but i hear alot of people go to Erie, Penn which is about a 3 hr drive but apparently the shopping and deals are amazing! The state also has no tax but not sure if that applies to everything. They do have bus trips for friday night-sunday night very often for shopping in Erie but you might check to see if they have shorter ones too!!

We've gone to Detroit (well Novi I believe and Dearborn) which are suburbs. I would also consider Grove City/Erie. It's about 90min-2 hours past Buffalo but there is no tax on clothes or shoes so you're saving another 7% right there.

I have been several times and there is an AMAZING mall in Auburn Hills which is near Troy, Michigan. The mall is called Great Lakes Crossing and if you look at it online it lists all of the stores and gives a map and driving direction. The mall is beautiful and huge so you might need a couple days and there are other stores in the area as well (Target, Costco etc). If you like designer stores there is a mall that is primarily just that (Ann Klein, Gucci, Coach, Banana Republic etc) called Sommerset Collection and is in Troy so not too far from Auburn Hills. If you like shopping in Buffalo you will LOVE shopping in Michigan...way better IMO. Also, if you can get a good rate, we have stayed several times at the Embassy Suites in Troy, Michigan and the rooms are huge with a separate bedroom and the rooms have a fridge and microwave and hot, cooked to order buffet breakfast is included in the price along with a happy hour from 5-7pm that includes free drinks:cool2: Have fun!

I'd love to hear more about Erie. Anyone know where the malls/outlet malls are?

There's a street in Erie right off the inerstate called Peach St and it has everything you can think of. Wal Mart, Target, Babies R Us, Lowes, Kohls, Best Buy etc. There's also a mall on that strip. Plus loads of hotels and restaurants. Grove City is about another 45min south and has a great outlet mall.

yep you will find deals at great lakes crossings-not so much at sommerset but it does have valet parking- would not recommend flint-last time i was there it was scary

I think those are the Malls I had heard about as being good...
How long do you think it takes from Toronto?

Thanks!
