State police and borders

My GF and I were driving home from Hilton Head yesterday and were just about to cross into Florida from Georgia. About a mile away from the Florida border I asked her if there was a Georgia State Trooper behind us with his lights flashing trying to pull us over, would she pull to the side or make a run for the border. She said she would run for Florida and I said I would too. However, I asked some of the guys at work and they said the GA state trooper could come into Florida and still chase us. Is that right? If so, I have to come up with some other plans.

Neighboring jurisdictions typically have cooperative agreements, either to cross borders to pursue a fleeing vehicle which committed a transgression in the other state, or to pass-off pursuit. Sometimes there are limits with regard to what transgression must have been committed, but that's typically easily finessed. For example, a "violation" (like speeding) might not qualify, but failing to heed the instructions of police to pull over typically would.

I agree with Bicker, I believe they are able to continue to persue you if you fail to pull over because of agreements with the surrounding states.

Why would you "run for the border" and turn a simple speeding ticket into probable jail time/felony record for evading/fleeing an officer?
