I know there has been a thread about this before, but I have looked and looked and can't find it.

I just got a Starwood AmEx card (mostly for the 4000 bonus SPG points that I get to add on to my paltry current balance)...we have an April stay in a Lakeview room booked at the Swan (2 rooms on an AP discount)...my question is how many points would it take to upgrade to club level?? And how is the best way to do that?? Can it be done at check in or would it be better to do it in advance?? or can I even do it since it was an AP rate to start with??

We will be there easter week and the more I think about having easy breakfast access and a few other perks the better it sounds.

Thanks for the info.

My experience with points/upgrades/club level are from early October 2003.

**1000 points for club level upgrade (per room I would assume)

**I upgraded at check-in, simply because I was hopeful for a
complimentary SPG Gold upgrade. the resort was busy, so I had to use points.

**upgrades are based on availability. It might not be possible to upgrade through SPG, you may have to wait until check-in.

**it is my understanding that to have CL access, you must be in a CL room...for the most part. I have no first-hand experience with that. If it's true, then you will need to decide wheter breakfast or a view is important to your family. I have no idea what the views from the Swan CL are. it's been a few years since stayed at the Swan :)

I'm sure others have varying experience with this. not the most helpful thing to hear, LOL...

I think I asked you on another baord--SB, where in KY are you? I've lived in several places across the state

:earsboy:

We are in Louisville (and pretty sick of ice at this point I might add!!)...thanks for the SPG info. I guess I will just wait until we check in to see if club level is available....since it is easter week and I suspect the hotel will be full I doubt a complimentary upgrade would happen...but you just never know.

Thanks for the info.

my DH works at the McAlpine lock :) Very sick of winter in Hardin County, too!

Spring Break cannot get here fast enough :) Enjoy your vacation!

to the Dolphin and it was 1,500 SPG points per night for Club Level. They said they had recently changed it to 1,500 for upgrading and was now the same for upgrading in-person at the Dolphin or through SPG. It was well worth the points. We LOVED the Dolphin!

Yuck... I don't think I'll have enough points for 1500/night for both rooms...I wonder when they went up??

Madge...I teach in Radcliff once a week...can't tell you how much I enjoy the commute thru Hardin Co (not)...it seems to sleet or snow every week when I have to be there!! The good news is I just realized we will be in WDW 2 months from today!!!

what a small world (hee hee hee) it is :)

one of my kids goes to Hardin Co. schools, and the other goes to E'town Ind. Luckily, there has only been 2 snow days.

2 months will fly by!

no idea why they changed the SPG point rate. I'd double check, just to make sure.
