Starting in Beading - Where?

Hi! I have winters off - jan thru march, (only work weekends) and i am looking to learn a new hobby.. I would like to try my hand at beading. Can anyone point me in a direction with some easy to understand list on what i need and directions for some beginner jewelery projects?
