Starting a new Fridge swap @ Pop...maybe

Hi Everyone,

I am considering starting a new fridge swap at Pop. I have been trying to look at the active ones and have only really found 3 or maybe 4 that are active. It has been difficult to see which ones are active in the 100 if not 1000’s of pages on them.

Back to the possible swap…I was wondering if anyone has ever had a fridge delivered to Pop before directly from the store you purchased it from. We won't be going until August and will be flying so bringing it with us is not an option. I am just trying to get some feedback as to if this is even an option. I guess another option would be for someone who is driving from the east coast to pick it up from me in Maryland and take it down.

I would be willing to coordinate the swap once it is up and running or co-coordinate it if someone else steps up to help. Thoughts anyone?

You could probably order one from Amazon and have it shipped directly to the hotel. I would think most of the stores would not deliver it (maybe Garden Grocer would pick one up for you and deliver it with your groceries?) or the shipping would be very high. Will you have a car? There is a Super Target near WDW that we always go to. In August, they would probably have good deals on dorm-sized fridges.

We usually stay at POP also and buy a styrofoam cooler to keep in our room. We put the ice in ziploc bags and refill the ice once a day. It works pretty well for yogurts, 1/2 gallon of milk, cheese, etc.

If you do start a swap, I would be interested. We are going from Sept 16-25.

If you're flying Southwest and buy a cube fridge under 50 pounds, you can take it in its original box as one piece of checked luggage.

We are planning on flying southwest. I just checked the weight of one of fridges on Walmart' site and it said 28ibs for the shipping weight. It was the 1.7 cu sized one. Would this size work?

Considering that a cheap mini-fridge costs less than a week's rental, I can understand it.

I remember reading in another swap thread of someone buying a fridge and having it shipped to pop and it wasn't a problem. many sites do free shipping these days...take a look and see what u find.

I run the Nemo Fridge swap and have for almost 3 years. I have actually had 3 new fridges shipped directly to POP without a problem. The original fridge, replacement fridge 1 when the manufacturer replaced the original when it stopped working and then replacement fridge 2 that we are currently using. I ordered original from Walmart and they shipped it direct to POP Luggage services without a problem.Good Luck!
