Started/Completed your 2021 taxes yet?

I don't have my W-2 yet so I'm waiting. Got a couple of pretty big bonuses last year so I'm hoping I end up with a decent refund.

Also on the discussion of access...one of my former employers used ADP and I still had access to it to after I left the firm. It all depends on the employer.

I haven't and with my husband about to switch jobs he won't either. Usually it's a security thing. They'll mail you your tax document. Even with outsourcing if the login was used with credentials the company gave you (like an e-mail address with the company), etc you'd be unlikely to log in especially if you're trying to retrieve the information and it requires an e-mail verification.
Security would be my guess as to why they cut everything off. We used work e-mail verification and also authentication code sent to our personal cell phones. Along with my company log in , the email and authentication were all shut off when I left.

Pretty much all set. Will be getting back about 10K. Won't be the same for 2022 with a large bonus that will be on the books, but we'll manage it up front.

We haven't gotten any of our documentation yet. I'm not looking forward to taxes though - DH has been working a 2nd job as a contract employee, so we are going to have a bit 1099 to factor into our taxes this year.

We just pay the fees associated with doing so. They are very small. But thanks for your concern :)
Only got hit with that once, and with penalties they weren't small.

EDITED: Just checked, the penalty is 5% of the tax owed, so I guess it depends on how much tax you owe whether most of us would consider if very small.

Not yet. I did finish up all the payroll taxes for our business and I’m just waiting for the w-2 forms I ordered in the mail so I can issue them to our employees. From there I have to make sure our business books are in order and get them to accountant. Then I gather up all the personal documents while they get started on the business return. Then I wait to see if I owe any more thr Uncle Sam or I’m getting a refund (usually though we owe more ☹️). My goal is always to have everything in the hands of my accountant by the second week of February.

Same. Accountant has to do the business taxes first and get the K1’s because that info is used on our taxes. So ours end up getting filed sometime in March/April.

I ‘do’ my taxes all year long in an Excel spreadsheet because I’m a nerd like that. So no surprises here. I’m just waiting on the final docs to arrive that will make it official. We will owe a bit due to constant under withholding from DH’s side gig. Yes, he asked them many times to fix it, but they never did. I made up most of the difference by adjusting my withholding in the last half of the year. I will file as soon as everything is ready so that no one else can file as us. But I might not actually pay what is due until the deadline. Or I will pay just to be done with it. We'll see.

We usually don't have all of our necessary documents until March or April by the time it takes for K1s and investment stuff to finalize. Gone are the days of refunds for us, we always owe, so not in a hurry to get it done anyway.

Not yet - still waiting on my W-2.
Once we have everything we take it to our accountant and pay her to do it. We’re hoping to get money back this year, which my savings account will happily take 🙂👍🏻

Yes, I doubt what I consider to be a small penalty would be what you consider to be a small penalty.

Still waiting on my w-2. But we will file quickly after we get it.

Still waiting on one form, but I've got everything else entered in the software and ready to go as soon as I get that last thing. I like to get it done ASAP before I misplace the paperwork.

Nope. DH’s W2 is coming in today’s mail. Still waiting on mine and a few 1099s. I think we’ve only gotten 2 tax documents so far.

I always have to file an extension anyway, so I’m in no hurry to get it done.

I have everything except the mortgage documents. Hope they come soon so I can get it over with!
