and I couldn't even make my reservation!!! URGH!!!! I thought I could call today for my first night 6/30, but was told I had to wait until tomorrow since that is the 1st. Oh well, so tomorrow I'll be on hold again, luckily the music is pretty good!!!! I have a week and half of this, we're going for 9 nights next year during 4th of July, so want to make sure we get the dates we want!! Wish me luck and hopefully I won't go crazy!!

This seems to happen at the end of each month....just try booking for the end of Jan. when Feb. only has 28 days! When I did this I couldn't book any dates past Jan. 27th until March...

Of course they don't seem to be doing anything to fix this glitch in their reservation system (or correct our Membership Guide), but you can be pretty sure that no one else was able to book for those dates today either.

Good luck getting the ressies you want...shouldn't be a problem at 11 months I'd think!

Join the club. I think that there will be a race to the phones tomorrow for everyone interested in the 7-4 week. Good luck with your ressies. Where do you want to be?:jester:

I'm doing a 7-month ressie, checking out March 1. I made the first few days last week, waited the week-end for the last 2 days, then was told on Monday that I couldn't make the very last day until Wednesday! It actually sort of makes sense, but is a little frustrating when you're actually trying to do it.

You have my sympathy!

A stay for the night of 6/30 actually would check-out on 7/1, so that's why you have to wait until 8/1.

Let me know how it goes! We are going down July 7, but we will be going July 4th week in 2003 and checking out July 7 so we can use our APs in two years. It sure will be cool to not have any ticket or hotel cost in 2003!

Thanks for all your support, my home resort is VWL, so that's where I'm making the reservations. Hopefully, at the 7 month window I'll be able to switch the last 4 nights to BWV, but I'm not holding my breath!!!

With the limited number of 3-bedroom Grand Villas at OKW, it makes sense to call day by day. But for any other units, is it really necessary to call day by day? I doubt it.

It's a lot of extra effort for the DVC member... and extra work for the Member Services. Of course, we all pay (through our annual dues) for Member Services cast members, call center expenses, and call time (including hold time) for each "800" call. Members who make their reservations with a single call are subsidizing those who make many calls to Member Services.

With the exception of Grand Villas, has anyone every been unable to get a reservation if they called eleven months before their check-out date, and booked the entire reservation in a single call?

Last year when I made my ressies for the 4th of July week at Hilton Head The CM recommended that I call day by day to insure I got the studio I wanted. Hilton Head only has 33 studios so if you want one of those you better call day by day. I ended up changing the ressie to a 2 bedroom in Oct with no problem, because they have a lot more of those. I think it depends on the resort and room (standard view at BW/Grand Villas/Studio's at HH to name a few)

Werner,
When I was calling for a standard view studio at BWV for Memorial Day weekend I was actually told by MS that it was good that I was calling day by day because they were going so quickly.

I think if you want to be absolutely sure you get exactly what you want calling day by day is a pretty good strategy...especially for busier times.

Each member has to make this decision for his or herself, I suppose. I guess it depends on how much of a control freak you are (like me!).

Good luck, I stayed at BWV during this 4th this year and it was fun. I'll be calling in few weeks since I'll be going the week after next year.

Werner, I think you have a good point. However....I called for a 7-month ressie at HHI for the last week in February (see previous post), and called at the first day. I then asked the CM if I really needed to call day by day or if I could wait and call at the end of the ressie time (I didn't really want to have to call day by day if I didn't have to). She told me there were 12 studios left for the first day (a little less than half), and she couldn't promise that they wouldn't all go within that week. She strongly recommended that I call day by day.

If I weren't quite so set on my dates (I'm a teacher and have to go only during the vacation week), I would have probably taken a chance and waited until the end. Or if I were willing to take a 1br or 2br instead of a studio, I would have felt comfortable about waiting. But I'm being picky about both the dates and the accomodations this time, and calling day by day worked best for me.

My next ressie will be late spring of 2003 at BWV at the 11-month window, and calling day by day won't be quite as critical for me. I wonder how many of us do call day by day instead of waiting until the end of the week?
