I've finally decided it's time to lose some weight and get healthier. I don't have a scale though, so I'll just be measuring my success by inches lost. This forum seems very supportive from what I've been reading :)

Hi Ashley and welcome to WISH. I don't know anything about Atkins but there are lots of very friendly WISHers who do, so you will receive lots of support.

Welcome to the DIS, ashlet, and welcome to WISH. I'm glad you have decided to join us.

I like your idea of using your measurements to track your success. Our true goal is to get smaller, getting lighter is a side effect of that process.

Would you do me a favor and post to the WISH challenge thread too? Posting there makes you an official WISHer. You will find the Challenge thread right HERE

Visit us often, please. WISH is a helpful and caring place and I think you are going to like it here.

Welcome to the group. I have had tons of support here.
I agree, measure inches not weight. I know for myself I wish I had measured when I began but I thought weight was more important.
I am into my 8th week and doing well. I have only lost 12 lbs and holding at that for 4 weeks now. I think they need to put size loss clippies in for those of us who are converting that fat into heavy muscle.
I didn't measure myself when I started, but I was wearing tight 16's because I refused to buy any 18's. I just bought 3 pair of size 12 and they are loose in the waist, but fit comfortably in the hips. I couldn't sit in my size 16's when I started.
Be prepared for the Atkins headache that will last for about 3 days. but when that ends you will feel so great. I never thought I would look forward to my 5 mile walks every day. It rained today and I felt lost. Did the stair climber but it is not the same as getting out in the fresh air while I still can.
Let us all know how you are doing as you thin down with all of us. Peggie

Welcome to the world of Atkins :D

I just finished Induction today and am amazed that I made it !!!!

I have no idea how much I have lost yet , I don't have scales , but when I weighed after 10 days I was 5lbs down.......not bad .:Pinkbounc Only 20lbs to go...........

I must admit in the first 2 days I had the headache from hell and didn't think I could do it I felt soooooo bad.

After day 2 I found that I was no longer hungry and didn't miss my old favourites ie: ice-cream, cake and chocolate.;)

I haven't had even a grain of sugar in 2 weeks nor any caffeine and feel fine.

My meals are filling and tasty which is more than I can say for some diets I've tried !!!

Good luck and keep us posted.

You'll find all the help and support you need on these boards. People worldwide who know how you feel and are spurring you on........great .:D

Hi Ashley,

Welcome and good luck.

I have been on Atkins for about 10 weeks (have taken a couple breaks for special occasions). I am down 32 pounds and 12 plus inches off. I have dropped from a size 18W to a 14 real close to a 12. I have another 42 pounds to lose.

Hubby has lost 31 pounds and around 12 inches also. Hubby has another 22 pounds to lose.

These boards are great for help and inspiration!
