I'm not really a Starbucks fan, but today I was at a Target with a Starbucks inside and they were giving out samples. After trying a sample, I wouldn't pay for one of these things. It's kind of mango flavored, but with food coloring that turns it mostly pink. And once most of the thin liquid is gone it's some goopy sour paste left along with the whipped cream. This was an idea whose time should never have come.

I randomly got one today - because why not, I need to up my calories, or buy smaller jeans. I asked if the mango could be changed to strawberries and cream and it was delicious! Here's my FB review:

The unicorn frap from Starbucks is what any ingestable unicorn product should be.

I like sugar, but that looks nauseating even to me.

It wasn't that sweet, or at least not what I was handed. I found out the sour taste came from one of the powders that gives it color. I guess it was kind of like ground up Sweet Tarts.

Its not that sweet. As I've said before, I'm not one for sweets at all, mine was just a strawberry smoothie. The sour patch kid taste is from the sprinkles. I didn't drink it once it got the whipped cream and sprinkle part, but the smoothie part was delicious. Of course, I've never actually had a Starbucks smoothie before. I'm usually a trinta green tea (hot or cold) or venti skinny wet cap with 1 extra shot of espresso. So, I'm not really the market for that product, but it was FAR too cute to pass up, and again, I need to put on some weight, so the unicorn drink was super fun. I kinda know the local Starbucks store manager, and he said they can't make them fast enough.

Everyone I know said it's very sweet. I also read something that said there was the same amount of sugar as three Snickers bars.

I don't do dairy anymore otherwise I would try it myself.

No it just looks gross. Just too much pink and purple and gross. I don't like mango either So I won't even try it

That describes almost every Starbucks drink ever though. Really. Every time I change my drink I have to ask how much syrup they put in the new one- and then cut it down to like 1/6 the actual recipe. Even their ice tea lemondes have an obscene amount of flavoring syrup. I caught one barist putting in both flavoring syrup and simple syrup into my iced coffee last summer because she thought my lowered syrup amount would it render it "undrinkable" because it would taste to much like coffee. Umm...that's why I drink coffee:rotfl2:

True... I'm a 1/2 sweetened girl so... I don't know the proper Starbucks terms, I just ask for whatever I'm getting to be half as sweet and no toppings.

Bright side, I think? Washington Post reports it's only available through 4/23/17.

DD#2 got one today. Her review: I did not like the sprinkles; they tasted weird with the whipped cream. Other than that, it was good. People are saying to try it with raspberry instead of mango. I might try that tomorrow.

If you change the drink then it isn't the advertised drink. I got the unicorn with no subs and it was just okay. It was overly sweet and only had a hint of mango. For me it was like the creamsickles I got as a kid and this would have been the last one I hate after all the grape and orange were gone. So not bad just not my first or even second choice. The powder made the whip cream tart which is not a pleasing flavor in whip cream.

With that said you can ask for the power to go in any cream based frappucino if you just want the pink drink. Going that far though I'd just get a half white mocha half raspberry or a strawberry cream frappe and you wouldn't need the powder.

I got this because it was limited - and also, I like unicorns. Now that I know that these frappes exist, it maybe be more common treat whenever I need supplemental calories. I've been boring for a long, long time. 2 local places and my favorite Starbucks know my drinks. Mocha half raspberry sounds delicious. I think what I got was really just the strawberry creme frappe with the blue and the whipped and sprinkles. I didn't finish it, but I was STILL delighted by the sheer silliness of it.

That's probably what they gave you since you said yours wasn't sweet. If you ever want some good sweet frap or any other beverage suggestions let me know. I was a barista for a long time so know a ton of drinks.

Cool. I think its sad the manager at my fav Starbucks knows me, and knows exactly how heavy I like my caps. I never said a word about my drinks, but apparently, I smile really big when its the right weight, like I got a prize or something. You have a favorite summer drink? Mine is just the largest green tea, iced, no sweetener they'll sell me.
