Starbucks mugs?

I was there Feb 1 and they were sold out of all of them. I wanted them so badly. I live about 45 minutes away, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to get down there next time they are in stock.

Anyone know if they are dishwasher safe? That's my biggest gripe with lots of Starbucks stuff... Hopefully by October they will be easier to come by!

I just checked and my YAH DL mug says microwave and dishwasher safe. The plastic tumbler says dishwasher safe but the straw came with a recommended hand wash only sticker on it.

I was in the DL Starbucks about 10:30 yesterday and they had both the mugs and the lidded cups with straws. They also had them Sunday morning when I was in there.
They were probably not the "You Are Here" (YAH) Disneyland mugs. It's my understanding that these sold out very quickly after the first shipment and have not been in stock since. All I have seen since then is the generic "Disney Parks" plastic tumblers and the ceramic Starbucks Disney Parks cups. I'll be in the Parks on Sunday 15th and Monday 16th so I'll check then.

The 2 CMs at DCA, one didn't know they had the You Are Here mug and the other said it's been so long since she'd seen one she had to think about it.

The Disneyland YAH mugs sold out on Sunday 25 January. I just missed out, but I did manage to pick up the DCA one on Monday 26th. I noticed there were still plenty of DCA mugs on Tuesday 27th, too, but they must have sold out before the end of that week. I haven't seen them since.

It would be nice if these mugs could be available at all Starbucks locations.

I kind of like that they are unique to each park and exclusively available in the respective park. It makes them more special :-)

But given that they are so special, shouldn't they have produced a few more? I understand many people are local, but this is a once in a very rare trip for me and it will be so frustrating if something they promoted as an exclusive benefit of being in the park won't have been available for months.

No. They produced enough to sell out, and thus made money and profit quickly for the amount they produced. There are costs associated with having unsold inventory sitting on a shelf. And they've never referred to merchandise as a benefit.

I have no doubt that more will be in stock, it's just a matter of when. They probably underestimated the demand and did not want to overproduce, a la Frozen, so it will take some time but they were not a limited edition or single run item.

I was just there (market house only) this morning and the only ones they had in stock were the hot ceramic travel tumblers. they did not have an expected restock date...

I understand that no item is guaranteed to be in stock but with this being a brand new item and how much it was promoted by Disney when released that people traveling there now have reasonable expectations that it will be there for them to purchase. I'm bummed myself as my vacation trip is 12 days away and I was hoping to get one myself. It is a disappointment.

Many items that Disney promotes sell out quickly. I remember a few years ago they continued to post about the heroes and villains Disney Dollars and they were long gone. It is disappointing, but it's often not a reasonable expectation that just because they announce merchandise with some fanfare that they'll consistently restock.

I suspect that they're not going to announce when they'll be back in stock, to avoid the types of lineups that they get for merchandise events. But there are so many people who go to the parks daily or a few days a week they'll still be noticed and snapped up quickly.

Well there were none there today - no Disneyland nor DCA "You Are Here" mugs. A CM I spoke to suggested that they could have some in later in the week and that the likely reason for the delay is the strike action at the docks at Long Beach, which is holding up lots of shipments of various stuff. Also, Disneyland was out of the ceramic "Disney Parks" tumblers, but DCA still had those is stock ($19.95 each).

This is something that was announced LONG before they actually offered them. The announcement generated so much enthusiasm that there is no excuse for "underestimating" the demand. For whatever reason, they have chosen to undersupply something (again), which is either a marketing strategy or just a "whatever" statement to the public. Is it more expensive to manufacture and stock extra merchandise? Maybe, but when you know it's going to sell it feels like an intentional slap to those who are waiting for it. I would be willing to bet that a large number of park goers would be willing to sacrifice plushie shelf space for a few more Starbucks Disney mugs.

Oh no! I'm sad to hear these are hard to come by. We might be going for our first DL trip in June. I'm so hoping I can snatch one up. I love them!

I just saw on Twitter that they're in stock today. And my pass is blocked. I don't know yet if I can go tomorrow morning to see what the rush looks like.

Awesome link! Thanks for that! Well, that explains where our mugs are :-)

Really? I'm about to head to the Park now for one last ride on Luigi's. I'll stop by Starbucks and check if it's true... I somehow doubt it, though.

Edit: They are in stock! (1230h)
