Starbucks in the parks!!! ...soon

I saw a rumor posted today that the newly remodeled Carnation Cafe will be the location for Starbucks inside Disneyland Park.

Starbucks coffee isn't for everyone. I respect anyone who doesn't like the taste of the coffee. I, in turn, think DD coffee is too weak and mostly tasteless.

But where you parted company with me was in claiming to know that "Starbucks is nothing more than a status symbol for most people who go there." Just out of curiosity, do you have any studies or other empirical evidence to support this assertion?

Totally agree about DD coffee, weak and mostly tasteless...it's pretty good if I make a stronger version myself at home though. My sister however, LOVES DD coffee and thinks I'm crazy for preferring Starbucks. Opinion/Personal preference, what can you do.

My first thought when I heard Starbucks was coming to Disney Parks is that I couldn't wait to hear what Pete Werner has to say about it in the Podcast. Looking forward to his comments

My thoughts. I think it will be a good option for people who have been dissatisfied with the coffee at Disney. (Better than instant, lol.) I am glad they are talking about themeing the coffee shops. Hopefully they will keep the Starbucks aspect of it subtle so it won't pull you away from the Disney magic. I am looking forward to seeing something new and am curious about what they will come up with.

I think it's a pretty good bet that the coffee in the rooms and food courts will not change. It would be awesome to have a Keurig with a Starbucks k-cup in your room, but it's not going to happen. (I can dream.)

I'm curious if they are going to eventually have some sort of Disney Dining Plan option at Starbucks after they get the stores up and going. Since the coffee is expensive, maybe it would be a Quick service credit to get a latte. lol

I am not a fan of Starbucks, because Starbucks is nothing more than a status symbol for most people who go there.

They serve a sub par product at a above premium price. They would of been better off going with McCafe or Dunkin Donuts which are a better product at a much better price.

I pay the same $2 for a grande at Starbucks as I do for the same size coffee at DD or McD's so I really don't understand the price complaints. I totally understand people not liking the flavor though-it's not for everyone. I like the blonde and the medium roasts and am looking forward to having it at the theme parks. Universal already has a couple of them and I like being able to stop there.

I was just excited there would be another alternative to the Nescafé. I didn't realize it would cause a debate on Starbucks vs Dunkin vs McD's. I think everyone can agree the coffee you buy really has NOTHING to do with status.

I'm with you...pretty much ANY alternative to what they serve now is good with me. Starbucks, DD, McD's all good over Nescafe IMHO. Outside of WDW, having a choice, I go with Starbucks, inside WDW any of three is a big step up.

On a side note...almost anything can and often does start a debate on the boards. Don't let it get to you.

I'm envisioning the locations to be much like the ones that are inside Universal, although those only have the full Starbucks drink menu and carry pastries, but not the full bistro box and sandwich menu. Those locations, however, do not take the Starbucks gift cards. The one inside Universal Studios is themed very well and is located in the NY area; it blends in so well, that I've walked right past it a few times when I was looking for it.

My only concern with the incorporation into the Disney parks is that the Studios location may replace Writer's Stop and I actually like that place although it hasn't been quite the same since they raised the price on the $0.79 cup of tea to be in line with the rest of the Resort.

My husband told me that he read that they will take Starbucks gift cards at the locations. I'll have to find out where he read that...

I asked my husband and he said "Pricilla at CRO told me" I told him thats as bad as hearing it from a bus driver! So anyway I wouldn't put too much faith in the information!

I'm not sure of this is the case anymore but a few years ago it came to light that Starbucks was wasting millions of gallons of water in its stores due to a tap in all stores that constantly ran. I hope that has changed because its not very green of a company to send millions of gallons of water down te drain.
