This may be a little early to be asking this but here goes. Does any one out there know of the Star Wars Weekends plans yet for '05? The new Star Wars movie opens May 19. We are Star Wars Weekend veterans, but how will the opening affect the "weekends". We would be there May 20 -May 26th or so. Also, does any one have an opinion as to whether it will really matter if we haven't seen the new movie yet when we go? (I'll stand in lines at WDW but not for opening night of a movie! Especially not the night before we leave for Disney!) Any advice is appreciated.

Well, the impact last time was not a favorable one. George Lucas reportedly spurned Disney in May '02 so that he could focus promotional efforts on a fan convention in Indianapolis. That year, "Star Wars Weekends" were reduced to a single weekend with no merchandise and little in the way of special events.

Disney's web site implies that SWW will happen on "weekends in May and June 2005", but until a schedule is released, I wouldn't be too overly confident. Barring any change of heart on Lucas' part, this is his last hurrah. Hard telling how his promotional machine might impact the Disney event.

Regarding your film question, I sincerely doubt there will be any events that would necessitate viewing of the new movie before you attend. Just steer clear of fan chatter (spoilers) if you don't want to be disappointed once you finally see the film.
