Star Wars Weekends Announced

When will they announce the actual dates? Does anyone remember when they announced the actual dates last year? Why is it such a last minute thing? Wouldn't a lot of planning go into this event? Don't they have to contact the actors for opening weekend ahead of time? The flower and garden festival has had its performers listed for a while. Are there any CMs on the board who might have a heads up? It sure would help in our planning. Oh well, I will just have to keep watching and waiting!

The actual dates should be announced closer to the event.

Last year actor appearances were still being announced in early May. Many of the actors live overseas, and I'm sure that has some bearing on their ability to appear. The third prequel movie is also in post-production. It's not unreasonable to think that Lucas could come calling at any time.

This may be a silly question, but does this mean during that time, it will be really packed?

We'll be going the week right before Memorial Day so I'm expecting that crowd, but would it be ESPCECIALLY crowded for Star Wars?:crowded: :crowded:

QJ411...yes MGM will be pretty packed the weekends of the Star Wars events.SW runs only on the weekends. If you're wanting to see some of those events I suggest going first thing in the morning. Most of the SW things take place around Star Tours so that area gets pretty congested.

If you use FastPass on other things you'll be okay! We went 3 years ago the same week you're planning your trip.I found it quite enjoyable and surprised on how NOT crowded it was!

The actual dates and Anthony Daniels were announced last year on February 12th. They announced a couple more people in March, the Fan Club events in April and finalized everything at the end of April.

Thanks for all the helpful information. Do guests dress up in Star Wars costumes?

We were there last year and went to MGM first thing. It did get congested around Star Tours with character greets and such. I did hear a couple of people complaining that MGM was too crowded due to all "those Star Wars freaks" Some people were dressed up and many more were dressed up with just a light saber. It is fun when you walk up to check in too. We were there for 6 days surrounding the weekend before Memorial Weekend. Think we flew home on maybe the Tues or Wed before.
