Okay, since I pulled things together quickly for our May trip, this is one area that I still need help on...

DS9 is a HUGE Star Wars fan, so the trip from May 16-23 will be a surprise so we can do the SWW AND see "Revenge of the Sith" at the AMC movie theater in Downtown Disney on opening day...this will be a problem if we don't see it on opening day! :earseek:

My plan for May 19, opening day of the movie, was to make that our "beach day" and head over to Cocoa Beach...closest to WDW and less chance of traffic delays (given what I've been reading about heading towards the Gulf Coast). I want to make sure we have plenty of time to get back to WDW, have dinner and see perhaps the 8:00 pm show.

I've already signed up for AMC's MovieWatcher club (or whatever it's called!), but wonder how/when I can buy the tickets online as I'm sure they're going to sell out fast. Also, assuming we'll already have the tickets, when should we get to the theater?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

Keep checking the Fandango website -- or some other ticketing site -- tickets will probably be on sale a couple of weeks out. Buy them as soon as you can. This won't be a film to hope you can get tickets day-of.

If you have your tickets in hand and you don't care where in the theatre you sit, you can arrive 15-20 min before show and still get a seat. If you don't want to end up in the front row, or if there are specific seating locations that you like (middle house / back row, for example), then you'll need to get there several hours ahead and stand in line. I was in line for almost two hours for LOTR at the Disney AMC theater. Also ... there will probably be one screen where it's showing on digital, and several others where it's not. If that's important to you, be sure to find out which screen is which format.

::MickeyMo I went to the opening night for the Re-Release of the original Star Wars in 1997 at WDW. I know that we had to stand in line that went around the corner of the building. We already had tickets. And this was a 1 am movie. LOL I would suggest getting there with plenty of time to spare just so that you are sure to get good seats together. Also, when I went there were many people dressed as Star Wars characters so it was quite entertaining. You will have a great time! :wizard: Rebecca

movietickets.com is another site that sells advance tickets. The last two Star Wars films the tickets were on sale well in advance . What you need to remember about that though, is often at first, they don't always have all the shows up, probably so they can gage how many screens they need to put it on, then add more if needed. With it being a Disney weekend prehaps they will put it on plenty of screens to accomadate us Star Wars fans! I would imagine that if you jump in during the first week of ticket sales you should be abale to get a showing for the date you want. If you aren't bothered about it being the very first showing, or the first day, that will probably increase your chances also. The official Star Wars site usually posts when advance tickets go on sale too. As it looks like this one is going to be very dark (possibly a PG13) I shall have to wait until I get back from Disney (I'm there when you are!) to sneak off and see it without DS4..he'll have to wait for the DVD and some Mommy editing!!

reggieb--
Yeah, when Spiderman 1 came out, we did the DVD-parental-editing routine. I think that, now that he's nine and has followed all of the Star Wars movies, that he'll be okay...I understand your caution with a 4 year old, though!

I checked Fandango.com and it said the you can't buy online tickets to the Pleasure Island AMC...went back to AMC's website and it looks like I can buy them directly there. Good point about checking starwars.com for a heads-up! I don't think it matters what time we see the movie, just so that it's on opening day.

Hoping to see other DIS'er Star War fans there!

I am so excited to be there for the opening weekend. I have a really cool picture of me and Chewbacca outside of Star Tours in Disneyland, Paris, my son loves it..I hope we can catch sight of a Wookie or two in May. Look out for us, we will be the family of three (reluctant hubbie, DS4 and me, the major SW fan) chasing down Wookies for photo ops!!

Good luck with getting your tickets.

Are you going to Celebration III as well? We'll be there!!!

We will be at the midnight show as well. We will be arriving the night before and are going to th AK for that day. After the AK, we have a 6:30 PS at House of Blues. After that, we plan on lining up. Moviewatchers newsletter should tell you when tickets will go on sale. I, too, check daily on moviewatchers.com. One thing you might want to do is to add AMC Pleasure Island to your list of favorite theaters. Another good site for Star Wars information is www.theforce.net. Hope to see you there.

Got it! Actually, my MovieWatchers card came in the mail today...and I've got the Pleasure Island AMC as my favorite on the website. This is going to be a HUGE Star Wars year for our family...heading to Celebration III in just over two weeks and then, in 6 weeks, SWW at WDW!!!

Hope to see you there, too! We'll be walking across the bridge from Saratoga Springs to the AMC!!! ...(then, heading to POR for the next 4 days):goodvibes

No, I wont be at Celebration III. I would love to catch a glimpse of the 501st Legion in all their glory! Looks like it's going to be pretty amazing.

Funnily enough I didn't realize that it was the Star Wars weekend at WDW when I booked our vacation (no really..my husband doesn't believe me either) I think they announced the dates maybe a week after I booked..so I am very happy with myself! I'm not so bothered about who will be there, just want to see all the cast members in their costumes. I think as it is the films opening weekend there is going to be a excellent atmosphere...maybe even George will turn up! I am hoping to go over on the Friday, if the crowds are bareable and there are some fun things going on I might drag the family along again on the Sunday, I think there is EMH on the Sunday evening, correct me if I am wrong.
