Star Wars training acadamy

I think they tend to pick guests who are eager to participate and won't freeze up on stage.

Oh wow! We just decided yesterday to make one last trip before our passes expire and we will be there Sunday and Monday! My DS (and DH for that matter) LOVE Star Wars. They will love this!

Will there be times posted somewhere? This is something we just can't miss!

Thanks so much for sharing the scoop!

This sounds fantastic. Definitely can't wait to start planning our trip for next year. Maybe this will persuade dh to do 2 trips instead of 1 for next year.

this show is gunna be at the tomorrowland terrace formally known as club buzz in tomorrowland. it should be on a times guide with your map as you walk into the park. Oh im so happy we get to start wearing our new nametags tom goodbye gold today

I have great news! I just checked the DL website and showtimes are listed for the Jedi Training Academy beginning Oct. 1st. My son is so excited that he just got out his lightsaber :darth: and started practicing!!! LOL We have just 3 days till we are there!!

just had to come and make a review. For the first show it was amazing. The jedi master came out and did a whole bunch of awsome moves ( were talking highly acrobatic) after that he does his speil and says hes looking for trainees. So all the kids stand up hands raised and he picks i wanna say 15 kids. and teaches them some moves after he teaches them a couple moves he senses a disturbance in the force so he rushes all the kids off the stage and the stage pops up with mist and fog and out pops darth vader! (wanderful costume the most authentic ive seen since star wars episode 3) the jedi master laughs at darth vader saying your outnumbered, then out pops darth maul. (another great costume) and one by one the kids battle maul and vader as he trys to get them to join the dark side. Wanderful show about 30 minutes would recomend to anyone. I just wish they would pick 18 year olds :bounce:

I was there yesterday for the first show, too! (And about half of the second.) By my count they chose 27 kids from the audience - good thing they could split them between Darth Maul and Darth Vader or otherwise poor Vader would have been out there a LONG time!!! :-) It was great that so many kids got a chance to participate.

The Jedi Master was very good - I loved the one-arm cartwheel he did across the stage! He had a wonderful deep voice, also. And they made great use of the ability of the Tomorrowland Terrace stage to raise/lower to bring out Darth Vader. Great sound effects, too. The guy who played Darth Maul was really good, also - he did lots of spins and jumps with that double-headed light saber.

It was a really fun show!

Just a couple of hints if you want your child to be chosen...the ones who were dressed in Star Wars garb or t-shirts were quite likely to be selected - the Jedi Master had a special comment if he noticed they were wearing a Darth Vader shirt. :-) The kids need to be enthusiastically waving their hands and wanting to be chosen, though, and they need to be standing down on the bottom level by the stage, and not up on the restaurant level. Sometimes it helped if the parent was also waving and pointing at their child - the Jedi Master felt the force was "strong in the parent". :-)

The show was incredible! We watched the first show as well and we LOVED it.

My 6 year old wanted to come back later and participate. We arrived about 30 min. early and sat right in the front on the floor. Most kids in the front row were picked.

It was a different Jedi master than the one we first saw and IMHO not as good, but still enjoyable. Watching my ds work up his courage to battle Darth Maul however was truly priceless! It is so nice to have something so great for the boys, but there were some truly awesome girls weilding the "training" light sabers also! Of course his dad and I were havin a blast too!

This is lots of fun especially if you are a Star Wars fan. We had lots of laughs and were truly impressed with this show.

Thanks for the tips!

Does this mean that the lower level has its own seats for us to wait in before the show starts? Were the "Force-"fully waving parents on the lower level (vs. the ones up on the restaurant level) the only ones the Jedi Master selected kids from?

How young were the youngest kids you saw up on stage for this over this past weekend?

Also, do the Jedi Master and the 2 Darths stick around after the show for pictures w/ the kids? If so, were only the participant-kids allowed to get photos with them, or were the spectator ones, too (would be a nice compensation for the little ones who were overlooked each time!).

Thanks again!

I don't know the answers to most of your questions, but from what I saw, Vader and Maul do not stick around for pictures. Once they are lowered into the stage, that's the last you see of them (until the next show).

The Jedi Master I saw had a couple of funny lines. He was an asian guy, and when an asian boy went up to fight Vader, the Jedi said "he reminds me of myself when I was younger." He also kept saying "Smile! It destracts him [Vader]" which I thought was so funny because it was unexpected.

It opened on 10/1 - they pull kids from the audiance to participate - it is cute and the kids have a ball!

Where exactly is this? By Star Tours? DS6 will be THRILLED THRILLED THRILLED so we will have to go early for seating so he is picked! Deb

No, there are no seats in the roped-off area on the lower level - people were either standing or sitting on the ground. There are some tables off to the side of the lower level, and I did see one child chosen from that area, but all the rest were from the roped-off area. They did not choose ANYONE from the upper level.

I'd estimate that the youngest kids I saw were about 5...the age range they seemed to be looking for was 5-12. That's just a guess on my part, though, so don't take that as official policy! :-)

It's at the Tomorrowland Terrace stage - there's a roped-off area in front of the stage where they let people stand, and that's where the kids are chosen from. I'd recommend that you get there at least 20 minutes before the show starts so that you can get a spot in that area - you might even need to get there 30 minutes before. I'd also recommend that your DS wear a Star Wars t-shirt, or some other kind of Star Wars garb - from what I saw, that certainly seems to increase their chances of being chosen!

We came across this show yesterday! It was great..... My kids wanted to participate but we were a bit to late. I agree the amount of kids they pick is at least 25..... there were a couple of maybe three year olds who wouldn't 'fight' Darth - they were a bit scared but the cast members were great with them. They stayed with them and got right down on their level to talk to them. The kids all looked like they had a great time. At the end they all received a special certificate of participation.....

Fun event especially for the boys.

I hope my boys get picked in May...........what a b-day that will be!
