Star Wars shows advice please

We will be in WDW with ds9 and ds4, both of whom are big Star Wars fans. We plan to be at HS before
Rope drop for Jedi training and will ride
Star tours, see launch bay, and all of
The other Star Wars stuff. I am almost certain my kids
Will be totally exhausted before The SWAGS nighttime spectacular show. They can either do and early morning or late night, but not both. Is this night show a must see? They will be exhausted and aren't going to stand around for an hour to get a good
Spot. We could go on a separate night but standing in a crowded viewing area late night will be tough (did
This for ptn and fireworks at DL and neither kid made
It awake through fireworks). I guess my question is, is seeing this show worth the hassle? I realize
Worth is subjective. We plan to catch the far away afternoon show. I've watched video of
The night show and its not wowing me, I'm sure it's more impressive in person, I just can't tell if my kids

I can't tell you if it's worth it or not because I haven't seen it but I can tell you that we didn't see it because Disney changed the schedule right before our trip. Our night at DHS was suddenly not a Star Wars fireworks night. I never told the kids about it (ages 4, 6, and 8) and they haven't yet declared that I've ruined their lives (I'm sure it's coming, but not for this ). JTA was the highlight of my DS8's trip though so if I had to choose, I would pick JTA. Maybe if we had seen the fireworks I would feel differently but not seeing it was a brief disappointment for me but no long term negative effects. What they don't know ...

Well aside from saying they love Star Wars, everything else you said seems to point in the direction that you guys won't be viewing the show lol

With all they are going to get to see and do during the day, I wouldn't think twice about the night show. Jedi Training, meeting Chewy(just an FYI, Kylo can be intimidating), seeing the Stormtrooper March - they will be in awe. There's always next trip - with the next film coming out the end of the year and Star Wars land on the way, I don't see any shortage of activities in the near future!

My 8 year old loved the show. We did pay for the Dessert Party, which allowed us to slow down some. We also did the Indy show a second time around dinner as another rest break (and because he seriously would just sit there and watch that back to back all day if given a chance!).

I guess it depends on the time of year you are going. Tonight the show is at 7:45 so that's probably do-able. You can make it a game-time decision about watching them. I don't think you need to be there an hour early to get a good spot. We did the Star Wars dessert party like @_auroraborealis_ and thought it was great!
Your kids will have a great time no matter what you do!

Arghh!!! Thanks for all of the advice!!! I think they would enjoy the dessert party with the show, i just don't know if they will (happily) be awake for it! And for the price of the dessert party, we could add on the water parks option, so i'm just not sure if i can justify the price. Thanks for all of the advice......I'll keep thinking on this!

We have taken our boys twice (when they were 5 & then 6) and skipped night shows. This time (they're 8) we're going for 2 weeks and will be spending 1 day on I-drive/shopping etc so the night before we will go to Star Wars fireworks because we can have a lazy morning then next day, otherwise they'd never make it

So my ds4 is adamant that he see the Star Wars fireworks and when I mentioned the dessert party both kids out this as a high priority. So now i am debating between doing the dessert party OR the Star Wars tour, with a second morning at HS to finish up some other rides. Either way we will sleep in this day arrive after rope drop and home the kids make it for the night, knowing the next day we aren't going to a park. Just debating dessert party vs Star Wars tour for the ease of seeing the Star Wars stuff.

My 8yr old daughter loved the show. It's now a must see for us. We just got back and made a point to see it. We actually did the evening of a day after getting off a cruise. The 5yr old fell asleep during it, however. Anyway, I would definitely not do the tour and do desert party. Isnt the tour is 7 1/2 hours and only Star Wars? You'd miss the rest of the park (TSMM, M3D, M&Gs, etc). It seems to me that the only reason you'll be there at rope drop is the JTA. If you are willing to skip that, then it's an easy choice - show up later and take in the show.

While the tour looks cool, most of the things you can do for free on your own. My kids liked the dessert party a lot.

The continue to want more. . . We are also going to Star Wars Galactic Nights in April!

We will be doing midday breaks so we can do both rope drop and nighttime entertainment. We also plan to purchase tix for the SW dessert party bc I don't want to camp out for an hour or so for good seats, nor do I think my 2 & 5 yr old will want to either.

I've found since I've been home from Disney, that I only regret the things I didn't do!
You're there, you all love Star Wars, I would definitely try and see them. My 8 year old loved them btw. It is very important to get a good spot though, especially for the kids as there are a lot of projections as well as fireworks. So I'd definitely do the dessert if it was available. (Unfortunately we aren't back until late November so we may to stuck with Jingle bam silliness instead!)

You can also get "back door" access with your Chase Disney Visa card if you have one. As far as fireworks go, last weekend we grabbed a spot right on the tape, dead center about 45-50 minutes before and had a perfect view since the walkway was right in front of us. My DS9 could see very well without a lot of tall people right in front of us.

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular is now my "every trip must do no matter what or who goes or if I stay there by myself" attraction. We aren't rope drop people so I know there will be no issues with DS14 and DS6 making it to the show. Getting a spot will be a tough because they won't want to stand still. I may want to look at the dessert party route too.

FWIW (and I don't have kids, so maybe there is an aspect I'm not considering): I don't think you need to show up an hour early to "find a good spot". I was in the middle of dinner at H&V when the show started on my last trip; I ran out to watch the show (while my mom stayed at the table, obviously lol) and had a great spot.
