I just got on email from Disney saying that the Star Wars Hotel (the Galactic Starcruiser) will be open in Early March. Reservations open late October, but DVC members can book early in early October (Oct 7-9).

Boy is it pricey, but it looks really cool. It is a two-night experience. We will happen to be at Disney in March, so I'll take a hard look. My grand-kids are already into Star Wars, but I may wait until they are a bit older.

Good perk for DVC.

Not that I'm going to be booking there any time soon (or at all, likely), but is that just a blue card benefit?

What is the approx price?

It's $4809 for two nights for two adults. Way beyond anything I would pay. I don't care how immersive it is.

Per business insider:
  • A two-night stay in the hotel in the cheapest room available can still run you as much as $5299 for two adults and 1 child, $5,999 for three adults and 1 child.
Don't know if those prices include tax.

But then again its cheap compared to:

Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic, reservations for suborbital tours cost $250,000 per ticket. And that's only a few hours.

I just want to be sure...how do you book this? Is there a dedicated phone line?

I didn’t get an email. I’m dvc and AP, the pre booking is open for all dvc members, right?

It’s Disney Collection, so only resale points prior to 3/2011 would be eligible. One person must be booked on points.

ROFLMAO, well rich snobs can have this hot mess. Plus it will keep them out of the parks for 2 days. Up side, they won't feel the loss of epcot and magic Kingdom new fireworks shows. Man, the complaints are all over every where you read. I hope they dump this at the end of the 18 months and go back to HEA.

You will have to have gobs of points. Given that point exchange in the Disney collection tends to be worth $5-8, let's be generous and say these will be worth a full $10.

Leaves you at 250-300 for the first guest, minimum.

I haven't seen any details on which number to call. Maybe that is coming in a future email. It must be booked as a Disney Collection hotel with at least one person staying on points, so that is a clue.

It's so unfortunate I don't have qualifying points, otherwise with my 215 point I could probably be able to book something like a 30 minutes stay, given the cost.

If it’s similar to DCL. They will let you borrow 100% from 2023 and 2024. Also if similar to DCL you can choose which person to use points on. You could choose the 4th person which would be less points.

thank you! Now that I know what Disney Collection is I know I don't qualify🤭

Maybe this is a way for some people to get rid of excess points which built up due to the pandemic?

Not saying most people, or that it's a wise use of points. Just pondering.

Potentially, but it's worth considering that it won't change the booking issues with DVC units. Any point traded out becomes units that go to cash booking. Points trades are basically money laundering.

Well that's an interesting way of thinking about it. Thanks.
