    Dining

This thread is all about the dining options throughout the planet of Batuu that guests will get to experience such as the local cantina and much more. Discuss and plan what and where you will eat in Black Spire Outpost!

    Oga’s Cantina

“Visitors come to this notorious local watering hole to unwind, conduct shady business, and maybe even encounter a friend…or a foe. Run by an intriguing alien proprietor, Oga Garra, the cantina adheres to a strict code of conduct that tries to keep its unruly patrons in check. But with a history of being a smugglers’ safe haven and a popular stopping point for those seeking to avoid the authorities, you can bet that the cantina has a story or two to tell.

Oga’s Cantina is the kind of establishment that attracts some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy. And you never know when a stormtrooper or a familiar face will show up. Patrons of the cantina come from across the galaxy to sample the famous concoctions created with exotic ingredients using “otherworldly” methods, served in unique vessels. With choices for kids and libations for adults, the cantina will make for a great stop!

Musical entertainment is provided courtesy of RX-24, the former StarSpeeder 3000 pilot droid we first met in Star Tours, who has re-envisioned himself as the cantina’s DJ. As quirky and talkative as ever, he’s still trying to do his best on the job.

Get ready to listen to some unique music, taste the best drinks in the galaxy, and surround yourself with a colorful cast of characters. You never know what will happen at the cantina!”

    From Barron's

"The first public restaurant in Disneyland to serve alcohol, Oga’s is relatively small for aesthetic reasons, and is likely to be popular. To maximize capacity and keep visits from becoming all-afternoon affairs, most guests will stand. There will be a handful of booths with seating around the outer edge of the restaurant; no decision has been made yet on whether or how these can be reserved. An intricate tangle of tubes and vessels behind the bar might make some drinks appear to flow from the ceiling. We heard a mention of a Fuzzy Tauntaun, named for the furry snow lizards ridden in Empire Strikes Back, although it’s unclear if that’s a hypothetical drink or a planned one, and the menu is still being decided."

Feeling hungrier than a Leviathan? Head over to Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, a multi-purpose transport shuttle docked atop a large hangar for traveling food shuttles. That’s where Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs has converted his modified Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport into a popular mobile kitchen and restaurant. His travels across the galaxy allow him to fill his pantry with exotic ingredients, and he’s proud to present Tuggs’ Grub, a “traveling diner for diners traveling,” inspired by dishes he created during his time working for Maz Kanata on Takodana.

Non-alcoholic beverages include the Phattro and Moof Juice.

    Entrées include:
Braised Shaak Roast, featuring beef pot roast with cavatelli pasta, kale, and mushrooms Fried Endorian Tip-Yip, a decadent chicken dish with roasted vegetable mash and herb gravy
Felucian Garden Spread, a plant-based kefta “meatball” dish with herb hummus and tomato-cucumber relish with pita bread
Ithorian Garden Loaf, a plant-based “meatloaf” dish served with roasted vegetable mash, seasonal vegetables, and mushroom sauce
Smoked Kaadu Ribs, featuring smoked country sticky pork ribs with blueberry corn muffin and cabbage slaw
Oven-roasted Burra Fish, featuring Dijon-crusted sustainable fish with mixed greens, roasted vegetables, quinoa, and pumpkin seeds with a creamy green curry ranch dressing
Oven-roasted Tip Yip, featuring roasted chicken with mixed greens, roasted vegetables, quinoa, and pumpkin seeds with a creamy green curry ranch dressing
Yobshrimp Noodle Salad, a marinated noodle salad with chilled shrimp. Dessert options include a raspberry crème puff with passion fruit mousse, and chocolate cake with white chocolate mouse and coffee custard.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo has two children’s menu options: fried chicken with macaroni and cheese; and chilled shrimp with vegetables and rice noodle salad (with sweet orange dressing).

    Black Spire Outpost

    milk-stand-concept-art-star-wars-galaxys-edge-1068x601.jpg
Blue Milk is plant-based dairy (not real milk), it will be cool, refreshing, and gloriously blue. (The green variety will also be available for those who prefer their milk to come from thala-sirens.)

    Kat Saka's Kettle
Kat Saka lives outside the city walls of Black Spire on a nearby farming homestead. That’s where the Saka family has been growing the grain that they heat into a fluffy, flavored treat to peddle in the marketplace alley.

    Ronto Roasters
Ronto Roasters’ large podracing engine will be firing up a barbecue pit for mouth-watering sandwiches. When customers line up to order, they will encounter a former smelter droid, carefully turning the spit of meats (and complaining about his job). Items include the Meiloorun Juice, the Turkey Jerky, and the Ronto Wrap filled with spiced grilled sausage and roasted pork. Guests will also be able to choose from a variety of exotic non-alcoholic drinks, like the Sour Sarlacc or Tatooine Sunset.

Meh? Think we'll be giving this one a miss due to limited seating. We wouldn't be interested in having to "stand" when taking a break.

We don’t know the seating arrangements yet and there will be more than one dining venue.

This part of the description made me feel that there wouldn't be much seating in which case, we'd give it a pass.

I think they still will be worth visiting at least once. If the theme is half as good as they show in the movies, they should be fun. Even if you have to stand.

I wonder if the release date (11/5) has any relationship to park opening?

Editing to add: $35 for a cookbook is a lot!

I’m not reading into that because Disneyland which will have the same dining will be open long before that date.

I would bet that is close to the opening date. Accidental slip?

No table service restaurant? Maybe the thought of ADR distribution and table turnover during this initial phase was too daunting. Interesting...

Yeah, I was there making that too - more quick service sounds way more efficient - at least to start

Could add a TS in the future I am sure

My guess is that (like a PP stated) the TS will be in the new hotel (at least for WDW) when that opens. Gives the land some time to settle before having to worry about table turn over.

Edit: it may have been suggested in a different post. They are all running together in my head.
