I'm not sure if this was the right place to post this or not ;)
However, I was curious to see if you thought (or if you saw Ep 2 there) if they would show Ep 3 at the theater at Downtown Disney. We are huge Star Wars fans and went to the midnight premieres for 1 and 2. Without really thinking, and to my kids' dismay, my DH and I planned a trip to WDW by ourselves during the week of the release of Star Wars 3.

Do you think they'll offer a midnight showing? Lastly, do you think (or did you buy) that they'll sell tix in advance?

Thanks so much!

We are actually planning our May trip around the opening of the movie. I already am requesting off the 19th and 20th so that I can start to catch up to my Episode 2 viewings. I have to beat my personal record of 10 theater viewings for that one. From the preview that I saw, I don't think that will be an issue.

I would think that they would be showing a 12:01 show on the 19th. Movietickets.com operates for the AMC downtown disney. The City Walk Loews is on Fandango.com. If my memory serves me right, I think I bought my tickets 3 weeks before the movie started last time. I'm going to start checking out the online sites around early April in hopes of the tickets being on sale, but then its not like I'm not at my normal theater at least once a week anyways.

:teeth: Thanks so much! I'm glad to know we can probably buy the tix in advance. What could possibly be cooler than seeing Episode 3 while vacationing at Disney World?

If you've never been to the movie theatre at Pleasure Island- it is HUGE- very nice theatre. -Steph

I was wondering about this myself. I wanted to surprise my DH who is a huge Star Wars fan, with a quick weekend trip. What day of the week is the 19th anyway?

The 19th is a thursday. The first show should be at 12:01 AM. If the stars align and the Star Wars weekends are a go at full speed, that weekend should also be a SWW. Double bonus for a SW fan. The new movie and a weekend dedicated to the movie and stars

Thanks ktglads. That would be sooo cool! DH would love that, and so would I.

It is our fervent wish that we will be there on opening night. What could be better than a Disney vacation and a Star Wars opening night?

When I saw Episode I they didn't show a midnight showing (early morning of opening day). In fact, I don't think any theater did. Theaters normally get the film the night before opening so they can transfer it from the small reels to the one big reel. For Episode I DD didn't get the film until later that morning because the premiere was not allowed to happen until the evening. I, for one, will be far away from any theater (especially DD) on opening night. It's not worth it to me to stand in line for several hours just to get in the theater.

There were 12:01 shows for both episodes I and II. In fact, I do believe them to be becoming more and more frequent due to the increase in ticket sales for these showings. Before Episode I, it was infrequent to get 12:01 showings and now any decent blockbuster gets one and so do some shows that really don't need them. I doubt that the DTD theater would pass up the income that those packed houses will bring in. Generally those showings can sell out several theaters

We were at WDW when Harry Potter 3 opened and bought our tickets a few days in advance for the 12:01 showing. It was a great!!! The excitement of seeing it at WDW was more than it would be at home. I would suggest getting your tickets for SW3 early in the week because Harry Potter sold out all theaters.

We saw 12:01 showings of BOTH 1 & 2 as well! And we live in a small town so our lines weren't bad or anything, we even bought tickets the same day.

We were at the 12:01 shows for both I & II. I would love to take DH to a STAR WARS week-end, episode III opening at DW. This would be his fantasy trip ( we are such geeks).
