We are strongly leaning towards doing this party.
We have never done a dessert party so it will be a first.
We usually eat a decent table service meal each evening but I am concerned we will be too full to enjoy the party.

What do others do?
What is a good lighter option for dinner?
Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

If you are going to do one, this is the one to do! We don't enjoy eating a crazy amount of sweets so we don't use the dessert parties as meals, just as dessert. We will have a lighter dinner before a party-either just apps, some type of fish or a salad with protein. Last trip, I had the Cobb salad at HBD. The year before, we shared some apps. Then we sample the different desserts at the party. The last few years it has just been my daughter and I but when my husband and son go they will eat a more substantial dinner entree, skip apps and then enjoy the desserts at the party (This was for the MK party-which has less of a selection than the Star Wars party.) None of us can fill up on sweets so this approach keeps everyone happy.
