Star Wars character meal?? In Oct?

So we will be in Disney a week before my son's 6th birthday. I wanted to do one special meal tailored around him for his bday. He's a huge Star Wars fan but I wasn't sure if they had a regular character meal with Star Wars characters or if it was only during Star Wars week.

They do not have regular character dining with Star Wars characters. They say that was at the request of Lucasfilm/Kathleen Kennedy who feel it would be out-of-character to have Star Wars villains, rogues, etc. all wandering around greeting guests at breakfast. As you wander DHS, you'll notice the characters use in the parks is very curated (right done to the Jawas often ignoring and frustrating children). Characters from the current Rebels cartoon might have worked for dining, but they seem to keep the parks limited just to the cinematic versions of things.

Eventually, there will be an immersive cantina dining experience at Galaxy's Edge

I agree....i would think a character meal of star wars characters would be a bit over the top

They haven't had Star Wars character meals at WDW since the last Star Wars weekends in 2015. There are a TON of Star Wars activities in DHS though. You could create a whole Star Wars day there for him (Jedi Training, character meet and greets, Star Tours, March of the First Order, etc.) and then top it off with the Star Wars fireworks dessert party!

That sounds awesome!! All that star wars stuff wasn't there the last time we went. So i'll look into all o that and get fast passes/reservations where applicable. My girls love Star Wars too so that sounds like a great day!! Thanks for the info!

The Stormtroopers randomly come through the dessert party and interact with the guests. They're also the ones who walk you out to the viewing area for the fireworks, so you'd be guaranteed to see them at least.

Don't forget the Star Wars themed food at Backlot Express...they have chicken & Darth Vader waffles, plus a few themes cupcakes.

It would be kind of cool to have a Star Wars character meal added to Galaxy's Edge when it opens. Altough the ADR craze that would generate would make booking BOG seem like a walk in the park.
