Hi everyone! I was so excited to go to the Star Wars Celebration and got tickets to the DHS Galactic Nights as well. I figured this might be the best place to post this trip report and maybe find some of the great people I met in passing during it all!

I went to Orlando with my best friend and college roommate (won't say how long ago that was....), Pam, from Overland Park, KS (a suburb of Kansas City). We were meeting our friend Toby and her husband Bill, and two kids, P (an 8 year old adorable boy) and E (a beautiful young teenager) coming from Virginia. Pam, Toby and E were going to be at the parks the whole time. Bill and P were going to join me a lot at Celebration. I was going to all four days at Celebration and had tickets to Galactic Nights.

I realized, thanks to the DISboards, that I had to pick what was really important to me. No way you could do it all (especially since I failed to get a Jedi Master VIP pass), so my number one priority: ANYTHING TO DO WITH MARK HAMILL!!!! I'm an old lady, and he has been my love since I was 8 when they put Star Wars back in theater in 1978 or 1979 I believe. I missed it in 1977.

And so... with that, let the adventure begin!!!

On Wednesday, April 12, Pam and I set out on a direct flight from Kansas City on Southwest. We noticed immediately that at least half the flight was filled with folks wearing Star Wars attire. Pam, "Great, I'm surrounded by YOUR people!" I had gotten a patch for motion sickness, but was saving that for Galactic Nights and the ride home (not realizing I had more than one patch -- drat!). I got a little ill flying in. I was ok once we landed, but I heard several others complaining as well. We ran to our rental car Pam had gotten with points. I was going to be the designated driver as she was going to uber over to the parks and I was probably going to be going at weird hours and felt better having the car.

Toby and Bill were going to stay at the Hilton Parc Soleil and Pam wanted to stay where they were. It was PRICEY, so I did something I vowed never to do: sign up for the dreaded time-share tour. It DID save a ton of money and did get me a free night for an upcoming vacation (going to Ohio to see U2 in concert), but it was a pain (more on that later).

When we arrived at the hotel, we were blown away by its beauty:

Next up: We accidentally almost steal a car... and Disney Springs! I'm going to see your makeover for the first time and spend WAY too much money! :)

After we checked in, we headed to Publix to pick up some snacks. I knew I'd probably eat them instead of buying lunch at the Celebration. As we were leaving, we thought we'd found our car, it beeped at us indicating it was unlocked, and we started to get in when a lady started yelling, "that's my car!" It looked just like our rental and she had apparently hit unlock as we did. OOPS! But, it all ended up ok. After putting our snacks away, it was time for some Disney Springs action!!! We had dinner reservations at Morimoto (my first time there). I liked it, thought it was beautiful, but wasn't just blown away. We had an appetizer to split (some sushi, I believe). Then, I had the "angry lobster." Poor lobster! I think it was supposed to be "angry" because it was a bit hot... or, it was angry because it was mutilated. Not sure. Angry Lobster.jpg

Beautiful restaurant!

I bought a TON of stuff (mostly Star Wars and Haunted Mansion and Donald Duck). Here's a sample:

Coming up: THE WAIT FROM HELL, my first encounter with Mark Hamill, and pretending to be someone's girlfriend.

So, Thursday morning I had a tour of Parc Soleil in order to get the room cheap. I have vowed NEVER to do one of these ownership tours but here I was. NEVER AGAIN!!! Anyway, the guy started telling me all of these statistics and number as to why it's actually cheaper to buy a vacation rental instead of just going -- but he lied to me a couple of times so that put me off as well. First, he said you could NEVER get a discount on a hotel room at Disney except for through them (how wrong that is!). He also said you had to pay $30/day to park at a Disney Hotel (LIE!). So, that was two hours wasted. I knew I'd have to do it -- and had it scheduled for a long time, so I knew I wouldn't get to Celebration in time to make a streaming panel room, let alone a live one. I had seen on these boards that people had been lining up early the evening before. I was a bit jealous, but also knew I'd see if streaming. I figured if I got there by 10:30, enough of the crowd would already be inside that I'd be golden. SO WRONG! The lines were outrageous! Only one door was open. Star Wars Celebration Orange County Convention Center.jpg

I had a 1pm photograph with Mark Hamill (and all things Mark were my priority!), and I was freaking out. 12:30 came and I heard we were AT THE HALFWAY POINT. I was insanely freaked out!!! I was standing in line, though, by some members of the 501st. One of them went to the "back door" and told security, "listen, you have people in shape having issues out here out in the sun. If you don't open another door soon, you'd have to call paramedics instead." That security guard then checked and within 10 minutes, the back door was open. I was in!!! Someone was giving me his VIP card for autographs (he was just interested in the panels). He was going to meet me just after the panel to give me the VIP card before my Mark Hamill photo. I asked quickly where the showroom floor was. No one knew! I asked THREE different staff members. They had no idea. UNBELIEVABLE! I finally figured it out. I had watched most of the 40th panel on my phone. I got into the show floor and saw a big screen at the starwars.com stage showing it. I was thrilled! I was there just in time for the Carrie tribute. When John Williams showed up conducting the Orlando orchestra, I teared up. <3 Amazing!

I then went to the autograph VIP area and waited. My new best friend came and made sure with the Topps people (as he had with the VIP people earlier) that all was going to be good if he gave me his card. They assured us it was fine, as they were going to be marking off the uses anyway. So, they got me to the front of the line for Mark without any wait. I was SO excited! (And, I realized they hadn't marked off the card after I got the picture...hmmmmm.....) I heard some other VIPs just showed up at the line and were let up front. I had read they escorted you, but whatever. So, I had on my "Luke Skywalker as David Bowie Rebel Rebel" shirt. Mark said, "I LOVE your shirt!" I said, "well, I love YOU!!!" He grabbed my hand and was amazing. He squeezed my hand as we left. You can probably see the joy in my face here:
Mark Hamill.jpg

Standing in line, I realized from talking to folks, I could have my buddy Bill and his son, P, in the pictures with me. I texted him and asked if he wanted to meet up for my Billy Dee Williams photo. They were over the moon! So, I had the 2nd cutest kid on the planet (next to mine) with me, and Billy barely said "hello" to us. I had expected that and it was still cool to get a pic, but even a wink at the little boy would've been nice, Billy!

Billie Dee Williams.jpg

I then made some time to talk around and take some pics:
Jaba's palace.jpg
Tie fighter.jpg

Princess Leia's actual dress from IV. <3

Princess Leia dress IV.jpg

Next, it was pretty early, so I ran to get the Thrawn book. It was late enough the Celebration version was already sold out (DRAT!) but I grabbed the Barnes and Nobel edition. I thought I'd come back later to get Timothy Zahn's autograph. Bill and P and I went to the Star Wars art show. I had a pic I accidentally deleted of my favorite piece -- one of Darth in his chamber from the waste down and his helmet was off and in two pieces next to him. Bill bought an R2 art piece. I went back to Timothy Zahn's autograph session and there was a long line. I didn't have anything else to do, so I got in. Bill and P had to run to meet Toby and Pam at the parks. Bill was hoping to get the autograph later. I started chatting with all the nice people around me. I realized the water fountain didn't work and a really nice guy gave me an extra bottle he had. Between that and the 501st guy, I was feeling the force of nice souls! The guy in front of me wasn't able to even get the regular copy of Thrawn, but had Heir to the Empire he wanted Zahn to sign. We got up near the front and the Barnes and Noble lady said, "everyone who has bought the new Thrawn book can have things signed." The guy in front of me said, "wait, you have to have Thrawn?" She looked at him and me and said, "it's ok because you guys bought a copy." She obviously thought we were together, so I said something like, "it's fine, sweetie since we at least have one!" She walked away and I said, "well, I guess I'm your girlfriend for the next few minutes!" When we got to the front they asked if we were together. We said, "YES!" probably a little too loudly. LOL. WE both got our books and each got this cool poster. I had him sign it for my son: Thrawn poster.jpg

Then, I parted ways and never saw my temporary boyfriend again. (My permanent boyfriend is probably happy about this! LOL!)

I bought a few more things, including these awesome items:

Star Wars backpack think geek.jpg
Boba Fett coin purse.jpg

I was so weighed down, I figured I'd better go and rest up for the next day, as I wanted to get here BRIGHT AND EARLY for Mark's tribute to Carrie panel and the Last Jedi panel! As Mark was my priority, tomorrow was going to be an amazing day I just knew (but was a little apprehensive as I knew I'd be up really early and out really late at DHS's Galactic Night!). Tomorrow: I had lots of luck, met a guy my mom loves from Pawn Stars, got the souvenir of my son's dreams, and then lost my car...

Sounds like such a fabulous trip mostly!

I read about the disorganization there but it sounds like you did well overall. How cool to get that front of the line access too. Anybody seeing your Mark photo can tell just how thrilled you are to be there!

CRAZY about that Timeshare tour...I would be calling that guy out BIG time! Still it is a beautiful resort.

Friday, I was going to get up at 4 a.m., but I was so excited, I woke up at 2:30. So, I decided to get going! Glad I did. Line was already pretty long. There were two things I wanted to do: The Last Jedi panel and the Mark Hamill tribute to Carrie Fisher. I first stood in line with a nice couple from New York. The wife was a pediatric nurse and they had a heck of a time with their travel arrangements. They came straight from the airport (flight was delayed) and didn't know if they had a hotel as it was booked for the wrong date. I was hoping I'd see her again and see if it all worked out, but the convention center was SO HUGE I hardly ever saw anyone again! Then, in the security line, I was behind two nice young ladies and their boyfriends from Portland I believe. I was debating whether to go to the line for Mark's tribute to Carrie first or the Last Jedi first. My new friends (who adopted me as their "crazy aunt") persuaded me to get in line for Mark as we'd probably get live seating for that now and probably not for the Last Jedi panel. I thought that sounded like a good plan, and it was. The other items I had planned were an Alan Tudyk photo and autograph. I didn't realize I had the autograph too (I think I mentioned above I offered to buy a couple of things from a guy trying to return -- I was asking for two photos -- got two autographs instead, but it all worked out and was the same price). Some pics from line:

This guy was AWESOME! Hey Ladies!.jpg Darth Maul's brother.png

At one point while waiting, my new "nephews" went to get coffee. The line started to move. I tried to help everyone out -- they had one of the lady's laptops in a side compartment and I didn't realize it and it was too heavy for that and it came unzipped and I dropped her laptop. :( It was already not working before that. She had a paper due in a couple of days too. I never saw her again to see if it worked. :|

We eventually got to go into the Last Jedi panel. AMAZING. They showed us the poster and then told us we were all getting one!!! I was SO EXCITED. I was trying to decide what to have Mark Hamill sign later that afternoon - I knew then!!! The ONE thing my son asked for as a souvenir was Mark's autograph -- it was about to be an amazing autograph! Last Jedi panel pic:Last Jedi panel.jpg

I started to head out for my pic/autograph with Alan Tudyk and ran into Doug Chiang, VP and Creative Director for Lucas Films on the showroom floor:
Doug Chiang.jpg

Now it was time to go to Alan Tudyk. It took some time to find anyone to escort me to the front of the line. They said they had to escort today (whereas yesterday, some just went to the front) as they had to make sure and mark off my autograph on my card. I will tell you this: this was the one and only time they checked off my card. There were very frustrated VIPs and medical folk because there just weren't enough people to escort everyone timely. Anyway, I got to Alan in plenty of time. He was ADORABLE and chatted quite a bit with everyone. I told him I had a huge crush on him since A Knight's Tale and he started quoting from that movie. <3 Got a K2SO pic signed for my son as well.

Alan Tudyk.png
Alan Tudyk autograph.jpg

I caught a glimpse of Ray Park (hottie!) as well (I had seen his panel at the first celebration and got to meet him there -- thought about doing it here too once I got the front of the line pass, but he was sold out -- also, his panel conflicted with something with Mark at one point -- and it was all about Mark for me!) <3
Ray Park.jpg

It was now time for Mark's autograph. YAY! I had found a protective sleeve for my poster. It was an unusual size and only one booth seemed to be selling them. I directed at least 30 people to that booth that day. I should've gotten a commission!

So, my mom started watching Pawn Stars when it first started. She got me hooked too. At some point, Steve Grad, who is the autograph authenticator on the show, saw a tweet of my son and David Prowse and we've been tweeting back and forth about Star Wars and baseball now for about a year or so. He said he'd be there and we met up at Mark's autograph session. We were in the VIP line together. He was WAY jealous of my poster and really wanted it (he's still talking about it!). He thought it'd just be extraordinary after Mark signed it too. Here's Steve and me:

Steve Grad.png

He also said he's sending something to my mom. :) She's excited!

Finally, time for Mark. We were instructed that there was no time to chat or personalize anything. I was bummed because I knew Davy wanted something addressed to him, but on the other hand, I knew it'd be worth more without the personalization. When I went up to Mark, however, he recognized me as the gal with the Bowie/Skywalker shirt from the day before (amazing!). So, as he was signing, I leaned over and whispered, "When I was 8 years old, I thought we'd be married with kids or grandkids by now!" He laughed and said something like, "that's awesome." I was too giddy at this point to realize what exactly he said. LOL. Here's some pics and my son's AMAZING POSTER:

Impressed with the pics of Parc Soliel. We are staying there for half our October trip. My FIL is using his points.

Oh! Before Mark, I got some random pics (sorry some are blurry):

After Mark's autograph session, I RAN to his panel. Because I was alone, I lucked out and they sat me way up front. It was such touching tribute! <3

Carrie Fisher tribute pic.jpg Mark Carrie tribute.jpg

After the tribute, I was off to meet my buddies at DHS for the special ticket Galatic Nights event... only... where the BLEEP did I park my car!?!?!?!

It was a great hotel! Wish I had had more time to explore it. I will say the service was SLOW at the restaurant but good food. But, other than that (and silly sales pitch), the staff were awesome.

Good to hear! Luckily we don't have to do the sales pitch. Those can be miserable.

@DWFamilyof6: It was a great hotel and wish I had more time to explore it. Only a couple of complaints: sales pitch and the restaurant service was slllooowww (when it didn't appear busy)

Love reading others experience. I guess we got super lucky on Thursday as we entered through Medical/VIP and nobody stopped us. We did go around late though. We never saw the front of the convention until Saturday. Somehow we lucked into one of the celebration exclusive Thrawn books. I stood in line at the Barnes and Noble line while fiance asked what they had. I was like you said we are here to buy some book and well this is a book store with a line. I'm waiting while you figure out if it is the book you want or not. I didn't even realize it was the celebration version but it says so on the sleeve so I guess it is. He is more into the books then I am. I'm a droid girl and that's about it so I was running around gawking over all the droids haha.

That's awesome! I loved seeing the droids too. I somehow only have a couple of pics (coming up). I think sometimes I was in such awe I just forgot to take pics! I did NOT get the Thrawn Celebration version, but I think just the cover is different. Still it was very cool (someone showed me theirs).

After Mark's Carrie tribute, I RAN outside. I was right by the front exit, so got out quickly... and, couldn't remember exactly where I parked. And, my phone charger was dying. I had an extra battery pack AND I had charged it a bit at the convention in their chargers. Still dying (it was a total battery-suck in that place!). I texted my friends I was having problems finding my car. I THOUGHT I parked in the Hilton parking lot. I finally (with the help of one of those nice guys biking/giving people rides) found it in the Hyatt parking. Oops. Then, traffic was outrageous. So, even though I got out at like 6 pm, I didn't get to DHS until 8 pm. :( I saw my friends had already done meet and greets -- I knew I could do that on my trip in May, but my son doesn't really like to, so was hoping to do that. Anyway, I RAN in and somehow skipped getting my lanyard. A CM ran after me. All was good then. I had run smack into the car parade. That was OK. It was nice seeing folks, but I had already mostly seen them at Celebration. Then, I ran to meet my friends to eat (I was about to pass out -- I had only really snacked at this point -- and, quite frankly, I was dead tired too!). My friend Pam had gotten me the Star Wars ears I had wanted forever (although, they were FREAKING TIGHT!). Then, we decided to ride RNR with Star Wars music. For some reason, this made me more motion sick than usual, even with my patch, but still fun. Here's some pics:

Star Wars Ears.jpg Galactic Nights RNR 2.jpg

Princess Leia.jpg
We then collected the stickers for our badge. The only other thing I REALLY wanted to do is go to the stage show. I was excited Alan Tudyk was there along with Hera from Rebels
Alan Tudyk DHS.jpg

We then went to the "fireworks." Here's Toby and P (they are ADORABLE!) waiting:

Toby & Patrick.jpg

I didn't take any pics of the fireworks show. I just wanted to enjoy it. I am SO EXCITED to take my son to this and the dessert party next month! There's a part with Darth Vader slashing his lightsaber that gave me chills! We finally headed home (the tram broke down on the way to the car, but it was a short walk). A great night. Really not crowded. Oh, we also shopped and watch the little movie (I can't think of the name right now!) that supposedly has some extra items for tonight in it. I wish I had had a couple more hours, but I didn't want to miss Mark. I did want to find my car faster though. :|

The next day, I figured I'd sleep in... but, the excitement of more Star Wars is strong in this one!

So, got home and in bed around 12:30 or 1 a.m. Not sure. And, I STILL woke up at like 5 a.m. I thought, aw, heck, let just go to Celebration! I love Star Wars Rebels and figured maybe I could get into a streaming panel. So, off I went. I DID get in. I was next to some amazing cosplayers. Here's some pics!

Kanaan!Kanaan.jpg

Asohka and Inquisitor.jpg Mace windu and me.jpg

The people around me were so nice. Bill and P were coming in and they said, "oh, they'd get in the same theater, just have them come sit with us." I would usually never cut, but P is young and it was such a nice gesture. We had a blast talking to everyone around us! Finally we got in. We got to see the preview of next season and the first episode of next season! It was amazing. We were going to do a Forest Whitaker photo session but I wasn't worried since we had front of the line VIP access about being a little late....

Here's some pics from the panel (including, again, Warwick Davis hosting -- I just love him!)

Warwick Davis Rebels.jpg

Rebels panel.jpg REbels panel 2.jpg

So, after Rebels, we RAN to the VIP area. I only had like 15 minutes left of Forest. They said THIS TIME, I needed the VIP badge as well as the card. I'm like, "you've personally escorted me several times! Why the change in rules?!?" Oh, that's always been the rule they said. We had asked several people if it was ok and they said YES the past two days. WTH? So, I called my buddy with the badge and he came running. He had a friend's kid with him and they were doing other stuff. He showed his badge and said, "so I can leave now? Everything is ok?" They said yes. They started to take me and my buddies and then we were stopped by the boss (who was the first one who stopped us today). He again insisted my friend with the badge had to be with us The lady escorting us said, "oh, I thought the guy with you had the badge." She knew he didn't. She was covering for herself. So, we called again for my friend. He was going to go up with us. THEN, Forest by this time had left. I was pretty miffed. I was ok for myself, but not P. How could they do this to a little boy and change all the rules? I was FURIOUS. I did get my money back at least. We had one more autograph (Felicity Jones). I just let Bill and P wait for this (they said it wasn't a long line) since you could only get one (and I thought we had gotten a photograph but as I said earlier, the guy handed me two wrong things, but I wasn't that upset about it). My friend with the Jedi VIP badge was so mad -- he was letting them have it -- after all he had paid for this privilege. I said it was all ok, really, for me, as all I REALLY wanted was pics/autographs with Mark Hamill and Alan Tudyk and I got those. If they had told us in the beginning we couldn't use it, that would've been just fine and I would have adjusted plans. Just sucks they changed the rules and my friend's son didn't get to meet Forest Whitaker.

Now that I had some more free time, I shopped and got some more pics!
Tusken Raider.jpg

Chewie.jpg Hammerhead.jpg

Bill, P and I then met up for the Marvel panel and the Del Ray panel. Bill and I are big fans of the comics and books. I didn't get great pics at these panels. Marvel was especially good. I was excited to finally see some of the "minor" panels -- although Marvel's was pretty darned crowded! Then, it was about time to leave and Bill and P were done with Celebration. :( On my way out, I found Triple-0 -- one of my favorite characters from the comics. I love this picture! Tripple-0.jpg

One thing I think I've neglected to mention, almost every day, I got a foot and/or back massage from the folks set up at the entrance/exit. This saved my life. They were AMAZING!

What hotel is this please?

Easter Sunday! I posted on my FB page that I'd be worshipping at Star Wars, listening to Mark Hamill preach (hopefully not offending anyone with that!). Looks like I got in line early again. The only real thing I had on my mind was Mark Hamill's panel on this day.

hamill wrist band.jpg

I got in the panel and then thought... well, this isn't until 1... what next? I decided to finally try for the Celebration Store which always had at least a two-hours wait and I was never there early enough for the "lightning pass." So, I went in the store line. There, my sprite exploded. UGH! I was SO lucky it only barely touched one person. Everyone was so nice to help me clean up! I feel like between dropping someone's laptop and exploding Sprite everywhere, I really owed the whole place a beer or something.

One of the things being guessed about right now is who Snoke from Force Awakens REALLY is. Someone in line gave me this (it came from a blogger apparently):

snoke sucker.png

At some point in line, while browsing the internet, I saw this (I had seen some of this while getting a massage -- it is AWESOME!): http://nerdist.com/star-wars-rogue-...ene-celebration-flashmob-cosplay-reenactment/

Once the gates opened, I think I waited another 45 minutes-hour to get in the store. Most of the things I wanted were gone (Mark Hamill t-shirt and celebration blanket). But, I did get a few things. I also messaged Bill and asked him if he wanted anything. He said I knew him well enough, he trusted me to find stuff for him. :) I got him (and my son) the plush Sarlaac plush.jpg Sarlaac Pit complete with Boba Fett:

Next line is for Mature Audiences: Bill's wife asked me why I was getting him a vajay-jay. REALLY? My boyfriend said he's worried what the ones she's seen looks like. LOL.

I also got Bill a variant comic and a program. I got the same and a Chewie t-shirt for my boyfriend. I also got the 40th anniversary tote. Oh, and some miniature bean bags of Yoda and Boba Fett for my boyfriend's kids.

Here's the tote:

I also got a Jawa cupcake which was a good snack for waiting in line to get IN to Mark Hamill's panel: Jawa cupcake.jpg

Finally, the Mark Hamill Himself panel! I got in and everyone was going up to the balcony. I asked an usher if they had any single seats they needed to fill downstairs. He pointed me to one in back, but a guy cut me off and took it. The usher saw and handed me this awesome silver card (I am so upset I haven't been able to find it since I've been home) that said, "Mark Hamill Himself VIP seating." SCORE. So, I got to go to the awesome reserved seats. :) That made up for a lot of the staff being not so helpful this weekend! :)

Another amazing Mark Hamill experience. :)

I left and got a couple of my favorite pics (Chopper and Death Trooper Easter Bunny!):

As I was leaving, I saw this... missing Mark already! Luke missing poster.jpg

Time to head home... sigh....
