What do you think of Star Trek and why

Haven't seen the new one, I used to like it years ago. Now I prefer Stargate (SG1 is my favourite, I liked Atlantis and am not a fan of the new Universe, although DH likes this.)

I was brought up watching the original show on our black and white TV, it was quite strange when I first saw it in colour. Loved next generation, but lost interest after that.

The first few films were good, hated the one with the whale, but the cast just got too old for their parts.

Saw the new film this year and really enjoyed it.

I never liked the original Star Trek, but loved Star Trek - The Next Generation and Voyager. We really enjoyed the new film, though it is hard to look at Spock without thinking of Sylar (from Heroes)

I though Chris Pine did a good job portraying a young Kirk what did you think of the other cast like Karl Urban

To sum it up...

A trailblazing TV series from the '60's that came back well in the '80s but then gradually fell into the continuity trap and over saturation finally reinvigorated by an amazing new movie.

Or what I'm trying to say is, I like the franchise but the studio flooded the market with DS9 and Voyager being on at the same time - this then made Enterprise's job even harder.

In terms of my personal favourites;

TV - Enterprise
Film - Star Trek XI

I'm a HUGE trekkie - owning every series + film on DVD (and BD, where available).

For me, Star Trek XI has been the best film to come out of the franchise so far. I genuinely didn't expect it to be, however I saw an advance screening of it and thought it was fantastic.

I loved all of the series, but would have to day my favourite was either TNG or Voyager. The DS9 storyline became a bit too twisted for my liking really.

Never bothered - but DH put the new film on last night & I really enjoyed it

Loved the original version and always will. Watched The Next Generation countless times and really like those shows too, never really taken to Voyager and some of the newer stuff.

The early movies were very good, but some of the later one's less so and they lost their way big time the more they did, especially the William Shatner movies, Wrath Of Khan and Search For Spock I liked, but the one's after less so.

Some of the NG films were good, First Contact in particular and having seen the newest Star Trek at the cinema and got the DVD I am looking forward to more again now.

Overall I am Trekkie for sure.

In a word yes !

Brought up on TOS, loved TNG and Voyager. Never got on with DS9 or Enterprise.

Thought the older movies were overall better than some of the newer ones, although the latest film in my opinion was excellent.
