Does anyone know for sure if that is George Lucas at the end of the ride (in the movie?) I get conflicting answers trying to google it - my son is dying to know. I figure the experts here might have the answer!
I have seen it several times on the net that it is George Lucas. We have also had CM's tell us it is him when the ride breaks down and they are filling time.
It's at the very end when the ship is coming back in.
At disney it seems rides change little by little over time, even classics like it's a small world. Has this ride changed at all over the past 10 years? Maybe they have different versions, some with Lucas, some without?....just an idea

We always thought it was him but not long ago my hubby found an article from Star Wars.com that said it was not him. I am not at home right now but I will try to find the article when I get home. If I find it, I will post it for you.
According to an ariticle on Disneyland in the Denver Post travel section this past Sunday, it is George Lucas. He is in a control room at the end and ducks down. I don't know if Star Tours at Disneyland is different than at WDW. I also don't know the source of the information. Could have been read on the DIS boards for all I know.
For those who have no idea what we're talking about, near the end of Star Tours as the Starspeeder 3000 is coming in for a rough landing, you slam on the brakes just before hitting a fuel truck. Once the fuel truck passes, there is a man in the control room who looks like Lucas.
CMs can get information wrong... see this quote from Hidden Mickeys
"In a recent issue of Eyes and Ears, a castmember magazine, there was a section of myths about the parks. One of the questions answered was the George Lucas Cameo at the end of the Star Tours attraction. According to an Imagineer that worked on the ride, it is not George Lucas, but a technician that was working on the film shoot who just happened to be in the right place at the right time to be cast in that part."
Who do you think would know better? An Imagineer who helped build the ride/film the footage, or a Cast Member who works on the ride?
