Just got off of Star Tours. May I just say wow. 70 minute wait was worth it. Fastpass was sold out at 1 today. HS in nuts and hot hot hot. But oh what fun.

Fun... now head to American Idol, and get in line for tomorrow's appearance by the top 5.

I loved this ride, I didn't want it to end. DS#1 and I begged to turn around and jump back in the line but we had an ADR at Brown Derby to keep. Ridiculously better than the original. Ashamed to admit it, but it's the truth. I cannot wait to see how many different combinations we can see next time!:worship:

I can't wait to ride this as many times as possible on our upcoming trip. Already have my Star Tours Passport ready!

My dh & ds loved this ride. They said that it is the best ride in the park, but they are star war fans.

Can I ask a question, some people said the first Star Tours ride would cause motion sickness, I never got to ride it. So, do you think the ride is better now as far as motion sickness?

There are different kinds of motion sickness, so it is difficult to say.

But general reports are that the ride is much smoother than before, and seat selection can make a difference - sitting towards the "center" of the simulator (which isn't necessarily the center of the seating area) tends to have a lot less motion - but there are conflicting reports as to the best seats for that.

If you are susceptible to sickness from motion simulators in general though, it is probably still an avoid.

I'll be honest that I never had a problem with the first ST. ST2 - I love it, but it does give me more of a "motion" headache. Similar to what Body Wars used to do. Same vehicle as ST, but I had issues with one and not the other.

ST2 - the movement synchonization is incredible. I think its the films. The Pod Racer scene is particularly rough as well as Coruscant. Some parts of Wookie Planet are rough too. Hoth, Naboo and the Death Star don't bother me at all.

There is NO way to know what scenes you'll get. Its definitely worth the headache to me and could probably be warded off with a dramamine. You have to look at the screen dead on too - anything to the side will get blurry.

So amazing though! Hats off on an excellent redo!

Editing to add: Have been in every row - mostly on the ends, but the motion is pretty intense regardless of the row.

Are there seats that do not move(for handicap guests)? I do have motion sickness with rides and sat on non-moving seats at Universal when we were there in 2004 and it worked great. I have not been on disney motion ride since a horrible experience on the Wonders of Life one..many years ago..that's why I have not done Star Tours. I'd love to try the new one though.

I get motion sickness, but I didn't ride this ride. Some people say that it is a lot smoother ride than before. When I rode dinosaur & other rides, I had a peppermint in my mouth. It helps me for getting sick.

There are no non-moving seats, but I did hear that it may be possible to request a non-moving ride - where they would not have the simulator move. I'm not 100% sure of this, and if they are running at full capacity it is probably unlikely, but you can always ask. It is a little different with Universal in that most of those attractions seat significantly less people per "vehicle".

The one at WoL you are thinking of is Body Wars. The interesting thing is that Body Wars and Star Tours were basically build on the same simulator technology - but people complained FAR MORE about Body Wars than Star Tours. It's been a long time since I've been on Body Wars, but I believe there were two things - one, the movements were a lot more violent - DW still remembers her neck hurting whenever anyone mentions it. And second, the synchronization between video and movement weren't great. This is what tends to through a lot of motion-sickness sufferers off - movement felt not equaling what the eyes see. It is difficult to get totally right. The updated Star Tours may do it even better now - but again, it depends on your degree of sensitivity to it.

The seats don't move - its the exact same vehicle as the old ST (same as Body Wars). Just different video and motion synchronization improvements). I guess I should say the seats themselves don't move - the entire "vehicle" moves.

We're all entitled to our own opinions, right? Because DH and I rode the new Star Tours last week and were kind of disappointed. After all the hype, I expected it to be spectacular. I MUCH prefer the old one! We went to HS during the week, close to closing, so only had a 10 minute wait to ride. If I had waited 90 minutes (!!) I would have been really unhappy. Glad the rest of you like it alot, though, especially if you had to wait a long time to ride! Am I the only one out there...

I like that there are different rides. In that way it is much better to me than the old version. But I liked the old version. I've only been on 5 or 6 times so it is still pretty fresh to me to look for details and different aspects and so on. I will say that IMHO some are better than others. And some combinations. But that is probably getting to the point of personal preference.

The motion isn't bad to me, but everyone is different. Saw an unfortunate protein spill yesterday.

Everyone's opinion is different. There are people who dislike each ride at Disney.

There are even different opinions over the different scenes available in Star Tours. If you only rode once, you perhaps just happened to get a set you didn't like, but there are several more. Plus, if your expectations were set too high, a second ride with a corrected expectation level may be more enjoyable. I often find the latter true, especially with certain types of movies...

I didn't like it at first either but I think we had a bad simulator since our other rides have been much better.

As to motion sickness, avoid the first row. It blurs much more than the other rows and made me feel ill even though simulators don't normally do that to me.

We've seen all the places but coresant (sp?), AFAIK. We've done it about 15x so far.

Here's what I want to know- I rode the old Star Tours ride back in 2001 and liked how it was just scenes from the original trilogy, e.g. flying in the trenches of the Death Star.

Does the new Star Tours have any scenes that are set in the original trilogy (Episodes IV-VI)? I didn't like the newer movies.

Just got back from our first visit to DHS and this was hands-down my favorite ride of ALL 4 parks. Spoiler alert - highlight section to read: Rode it twice the 1st day we went and twice the 2nd day. Adding it all up, we had 3 different "beginnings" and 3 different "endings." It seems they have 2 parts to each adventure and mix them up. So when you make the first jump to light speed, you go one place (and we went to 3 different places over 4 rides) and then later you make a 2nd jump to light speed and we went to 3 different places over 4 rides. While one beginning and ending repeated for us, they didn't repeat together. So out of the 4 times, we never had an identical ride.

We were there on 5/25 & 5/27 (Friday of a SWW). Both days we rode with only about a 20 minute wait for each ride. (First ride on 5/25 said 20 min, but was really closer to 10).

ETA - I get motion sickness and I rode this right after eating breakfast, but having taken a bonine (similar to dramamine) earlier in the AM. I had absolutely no problems handling the ride. I made it a practice to simply take a pill at the beginning of each day and never had an issue with anything.
