Hi! I have a short 4 yr old (38.5 inches) who really, really wants to ride Star Tours ... she just had a Star Wars Birthday Party
this weekend and was even Luke Skywalker for Halloween

I know the height requirement is 40 inches, but I've also read that there are non-motion seats avaliable. Does anyone know if
shorter visitors can use these seats? I thought it might be worth a try!

Thanks!

There are no non motion seats. Sometimes a CM takes you into a simulator that isn't being used and the movie is showing.

DS3 at the time was able to ride a non-motion simulator in Star Tours. However, it was low season. Just ask. DS really enjoyed it!

I would definitely give it a try. We went in and there was no line at all. We just felt like walking around and decided to wait together while Dad went on the ride with older sister.

Well, the 3 CMs nearly bent over backwards making my son feel so special. We got to ride the "special" seats all by ourselves! They even gave him a certificate. He was beaming from ear to ear because he got to go on a big person ride. It was a very nice surprise.

I would love to do star tours but I had simulated rides......
thanks for the info...Hopefully next time I go to wdw, I will be able to do this

My dd, 5, has been begging to go on Star Tours, but I've tried to explain it is only for grown ups (it looked like it might be too scary for her). I won't mention this, just in case, but we will certainly try to get one of the "special seats".

Thanks for the tip!

Forgot to update everyone on this!

We went to MGM at the beginning on the month on a Monday (Feb 6th). We got over to Star Tours a little before 11 (did PH disney first). We asked the CM at the beginning of the line about riding it with no motion. He went and checked and they gave him the o.k. DD4 and I were led through the handicapped line (I think) and taken to wait in front of one of the theaters. We got to see the show with no movement of the theater. We were the only ones in there! She even sat on my lap. This was great for her because she was too short to ride the normal Star Tours and I think she may have been too scared!

Give it a try! The CM told me they will do it if they are not too busy. It really depends on the wait time (which was either 0 or 5 min when we were there) ... I can't remember.

Just so nobody gets CONFUSED about what happens (and what to ASK FOR):

There are NO special SEATS.

This is how "Star Tours" works:
There are several (I think FOUR) separate (but identical) "ride VEHICLES" (simulators).
When the attraction is BUSY, they load and operate ALL FOUR vehicles, so as to reduce the wait time for all guests.

When the attraction is NOT busy, they only load and operate one or two of the ride vehicles.

It is possible at these times that (if you ask a cooperative CM ... most ARE) they will allow you and your party to board "your OWN" (otherwise empty) ride vehicle.
The CM can switch the ride system to ONLY play the MOVIE and NOT MOVE the simulator (the entire vehicle would not be moving).

I suggest that you go VERY EARLY in the morning (before it gets busy) directly to "Star Tours" and see if you can arrange a "special RIDE".

Happy space traveling (even if its a bit "static") !

This is great news . Do you know if they do this for Misson Space?????

Does anyone know if they have No Motion seats on Misson Space??

As Robo posted, for Star Tours, there are a number of identical theaters that all operate independently. When running noramlly, a movie is playing and the whole theater moves in conjunction with the movie. It is possible for the CMs to run the attraction with just the movie part running and not the motion in one theater while the others operate "normally".

I don't believe that they can do this in MS because (as far as I know) the movie and motion are more interconnected and the individual cars don't operate individually.

Even for people with disabilities (as opposed to a family with a child who is too short) who have asked for a non-motion ride at Star Tours, it is sometimes not possible at all, sometimes they are taken on quickly and sometimes they are asked to come back later in the day when the attraction won't be busy. It's usually not an option at all during busy times when all the theaters are running or during times when there is just enough staffing to operate the theaters they are using.

Never heard of this happening...
but there are times when MS is not busy and they don't board all of the "rooms" at once.

(There are several individual vehicles that are attached to a common centrifuge and operate together inside a large "ROOM") I think there are four (maybe 3) separate "rooms".

If you ask (early in the morning), there MIGHT be a CM who could make this "no motion" trip happen.

If anyone checks, let us know.

Just ask for a "test flight". Assuming they're not busy or understaffed, you'll end up getting a non-moving show (and probably the place to yourself)
