Star Tours II Update

Riders aboard the new Star Tours attraction coming to Disneyland in Anaheim and Disney’s Hollywood Studios near Orlando, Fla., in 2011 will have the power to change the storyline throughout the simulator ride, resulting in a different beginning, middle and end for every journey.

Although not yet confirmed, those other destinations may include the Wookie planet of Kashyyyk, the unfinished Death Star space station and Queen Amidala’s home planet of Naboo, according to images released by Disney and LucasFilm.

Star Tours will close July 27 at Disneyland and on Sept. 7 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Disney World, with a reopening at both parks tentatively scheduled for May 2011. Screamscape suggests a May 4th opening date — as in “May the fourth be with you.”

Disney’s Hollywood Studios plans a “Last Tour to Endor” celebration on Aug. 14 with a Death Star disco, “Star Wars” -themed fireworks and a final flight to the forest moon.

As far as I know it isn't Disney that is having this event. It is an outside group having a celebration at Disney.

I guess I should go on Star Tours next week. After all of these years I have yet to be on it. lol

I've got my tickets in hand for the "Last Tour to Endor" party, and I'm going to Star Wars Celebration V at the convention center too. Should be a good time!

Wow they are bringing in a lot from the newer movies. I will miss the run through the death star a little. I've been saying the ride needs updating. I always wanted a choose your own adventure.

Still wish they would show Corellia (home planet of Han Solo).

I remember when they opened this attraction. I was so excited and eager to ride it. I look forward to the new version.
