Star tours and motion sickness

those of you that experience slight motion sickness and have been in star tours, how bad is it? I was on it years ago and remember feeling a little ill, but want to give it another go. Thoughts?

Star Tours is pretty bad. I'm not terribly prone to motion sickness, but if that ride was another minute longer they would be cleaning up after me.

I find I handle it better if I'm in the very back row and can rest my head on the wall. Sometimes it's the neck strain that makes me feel worse.

I tend to get pretty decent motion sickness on simulators. I might not get sick after star tours but I always need to chug some water.

I have to take Dramamine to ride the simulators at Universal, but none at Disney bother me. DH can handle Soarin, but everything else (including Star Tours) bothers him. Maybe try half of a Less Drowsy Dramamine--that's enough to let me ride The Simpsons or read in the car without getting sick. YMMV.

Well I am prone to any and all kinds of motion sickness, curse my inner ear, so I'm going to say Star Tours is pretty rough. I can't take any kind of meds for it, because even the non-drowsy ones make me act like I'm drugged, but you may have some success with them! I put Motion-Eze behind my ears and ride it anyway- but usually toward the end of the day. My best advice if you're prone to motion sickness but you're a huge SW fan is to take meds or some other aid if you can, ride it at the tail end of the day, and keep your eyes glued to one spot on the screen. Best of luck to you!

I have moderate motion sickness. I have only ridden it once (I'm not a Star Wars fan). I took a Dramamine beforehand and it didn't bother me at all.

Been wondering about this too. I also take Dramamine at Universal but have never needed it at WDW. This will be my first time on Star Tours. Can anyone who's done WDW and Uni compare ST to a Uni ride? Is it more Minions or Simpsons or something in between like Gringotts?

It was bad for me, even with meds. I'll never go on it again. I tried it twice, felt awful for hours after both times. That said, I did alright at US on the Spider-Man ride. I don't know why star tours gets me, but it does!

The old star tours was worse. This one rocks you. If Mission Space hits you this one will too.

Body Wars was reportedly even worse, though I wasn't subject to motion sickness on either it or the original ST. What's changed between the old ST and now, besides the story lines?

I NEVER get motion sickness, ever, except on Star Tours. I can ride any roller coaster, any other simulator with no problems but Star Tours makes me nauseous. I do love it though and discovered that if I get on with an empty stomach it's much worse on me. I'm not recommending getting on with a full stomach, but if I eat a light snack beforehand so a little something is on my stomach I don't have problems riding it. Obviously this may not work for everyone that has trouble riding it, but I thought I'd share what works for me!

I really don't think it's that bad, if something's really bad I can get motion sickness but I was fine on this

I can't read in the car without feeling dizzy after a couple of minutes but, being a big SW fan, I took advantage of an opportunity to walk on three times in a row on our last trip. I did ok at first, but regretted the third time through! Not bad, just dizzy and queasy for a little while!

I am the same but Star Tours gets me every time. Now that my son is old enough I let them ride without me. I even tried keeping my eyes shut last time but I was sick for hours after. Roller coasters and Soarin ~ no problem. Can't even watch the teacups lol

I have trouble with spinning rides (e.g., Mad Tea Party), but do like roller coasters. I was able to ride the old Star Tours, but the new version (with the 3D) is a lot worse (for me). I have trouble focusing on 3D movie images to begin with, so I think that's part of my problem with Star Tours. I didn't get sick, but I felt dizzy/lightheaded after riding it.

I have problems with motion sickness on simulators. Can't do Mission Space at all. Each visit, I do Star Tours once and then I'm good to go (while my boys and their Dad go on it over and over!). If/when it gets fast/shaking I close my eyes and that helps a lot.

I think it's worst than Minions but not as bad as Simpsons. It's the multiple free fall then huge bursts that make it intense.

I don't plan on riding it again. Last time I tried was rough. If it did not bother me, I would ride it multiple times to see the different versions of the ride.

I take Bonine and Star Tours still makes me sick. We still go on it every time, but I can't watch the screen at all. I'm sorry I have to miss out, but it's the only way to keep from being sick all day. I just keep my eyes closed and let DD enjoy the ride. I don't think she has even noticed that I don't watch lol.
