Staples penny sale

Well, I'm bummed... I asked about teachers being allowed to purchase more than the limit and was told no :(. In addition to that, they wouldn't even let me buy the limit and then my 12 year old daughter get some too. They had printed signs that said "one per customer means one per family".

Sorry that happened to you. :goodvibes
If you have the time, I would go back each day until Wednesday or go twice in the day but at different times of course.

That is a bummer! Our whole family went in and all purchased the limits.

Do go back, but don't wait until Wednesday; during the penny sales last year our Staples ran out of stuff on the 2nd day of several of the sales!

So, I went to Staples this afternoon and got the teacher limit of 25 on the folders, pencils and hand sanitizer. I didn't grab any binders, as I got a lot last year on clearance.

When I checked out, the store manager (who had to do the override - the cashier originally wanted to charge me close to $40!) said that I should email all the teachers I know to let them know about this deal. I thought that was really great.

She also let me know that the penny sale will be continuing for the next several weeks, and that I should be able to check out the upcoming Sunday sale each Friday online.

Last year, Staples had the plastic folders on sale, I think for 5 cents each...I hope they do this again as they are great!

I hope everyone has good luck with their local Staples - I have never had a problem with them!

Well, I'm bummed. A Staples just opened here in town and I was so excited to get in on the penny sales. I asked about teachers being allowed to purchase more than the limit and was told no :(. I was NOT happy! At the very least, I wanted each of us to be able to get the folders since I use them in my classroom and she needs them for her school supply list.

This happened to me last year at Office Max during their penny sales - and I was a bit annoyed. But thankfully, it was because of Office Max cutting me off that I found out about Staples, who lets me get a higher limit as a teacher!

Is there another Staples near you? I know that another Office Max near me did not do the "limit one per househould" signs like the one I usually went to did. It might be worth a try?

DD16 and I went today. Between the 2 of us we got:

20 folders
4 bottles of Purell
4 packs of pencils
4 1" binders
2 packs of highlighters that are free after rebate

Maggie

Went today and got:

2 pcks of pencils
4 bottles of purrell (cashier rang them up 2x for me)
4 1" binders
10 folders
2 pks of black & white hardcover notebooks ($1.99 for 2)

How did I miss the rebate on the highlighters????:confused3

Thanks for the info....guess that I'll just have to go back.;)

Can't wait to see what's on sale next week!

Does anyone know how many weeks they run the sales for?
TIA

Does anyone know how much the highlighters are(the ones with the easy rebate)?

You may want to call the corporate number 1-800-378-2753 (1-800-3STAPLE). Especially since they wouldn't allow you to buy the limit that was posted in the ad. I had a similar problem with a local CVS, where the manager was imposing his own limits, despite what was printed in the ad. One phone call, and no more hand printed signs.

I went yesterday morning w/my husband and two kids - we each got the 10folders, 2 purell and 2 pencils - did not do the markers!

I know i won't use all 40 folders - but figured i can always give them to the teachers as extras

I'm on the lookout for the composition notebooks - would love to get them for .50 each!

My dd and I went yesterday and got the limit on plastic binders, purell, highlighters and some other stuff that I will keep in the bag with receipts to either return and rebuy when it goes on sale. I will be going back again for the purell and binders today. I looked at the folders and they were so cheap and thin - my dd goes through those like water that I passed them up. They require the plastic ones in her school because of that. Also, the pencils are not really that great. I got them home and they were did not sharpen that well and the erasers were HORRIBLE - left pink everywhere - didn't work, so even though they were only a penny, it seemed like wasted money to me. Can't wait to see what's next week.

Thanks to this thread, I got my penny deals.

DS13,DD11,DD9 and myself each got the limit of each item. We had no problems.

I homeschool so we use a lot of school supplies. And those purell will fit nicely in my fanny pack for our Disney trip.

What I don't use will be donated to Church for the Christmas shoe-box ministry for underprivileged children.

I had never taken advantage of this penny sale before and I am looking forward to what will be on sale next week!

Is this for "Operation Christmas Child" run by Samaritan's Purse? I look for deals throughout the year for this and each of my kids packs up a box to send off each year. It's a family tradition. There's always a few Staples goodies in there! :thumbsup2

I think the plastic binders, highlighters, and the purell are great deals. I don't like the pencils, all I buy are the Paper Mate Americana ones. They work and sharpen great. I also thought the folders were too thin. I also like the plastic ones.

I'm going today to see what they have. My DH was in the area yesterday and I forgot to have him stop in there for a couple of items. sigh.

I'll have to see what's on sale next week.

No, our church collects the items and children/teen volunteers assemble them and then donate the shoe boxes to the Missionaries of Charity. The Sisters deliver them to the children, mostly to families in need in the inner city.

First time I heard about the penny sale was through here. So, thank you! I have read that some of you are anxious to see what they are going to have next week. Does this mean that they are going to add more items to the penny sale?

We're planning to hit our local Staples later today. I hope they aren't sold out yet!

For the next couple of weeks they will switch the items in the sale.

Just spent 81 cents at Staples. Can't wait to see what comes next. They told me about Teacher Appreciation Day which happens to be while we will be in Disney. Oh well maybe next year.
