made the reservation last month....reservation was made for one night, August 24th....it was an AAA rate...i just noticed they charged my credit card for the one night stay this week ($95).....found it very strange as this was not an advanced purchase....something to keep an eye on...

I noticed the same thing on my recent CC statement. We are staying one night the end of July, also a AAA rate. I thought it was a little out of the ordinary.:confused3

I had this occur last year and everything was fine. I did not get charged again when the time came for us to stay. Just double check your CC statement but you should be fine

thanks and its good advice but i actually cancelled this reservation as the advance pay at Caribe Royal was the same price and they don't charge for self parking....

to me its more the principle and concern- i caught the charge by accident and said "huh??!!"...

they had no right to charge my card without my permission two months before my stay....unless they slipped something into the terms & conditions...

This comes up on the reservation page (where you fill in your room type/name, etc.)
This reservation requires a credit card deposit of 111.38 USD per room and will be charged to your card by July 21, 2011. If you wish to cancel, please do so 72 hours before arrival to avoid cancellation penalties.

Most hotels require a deposit of the first night stay. I don't see where this is unusual except for the fact that they didn't run it right away. :confused3

i disagree...they take my credit card # in case i don't cancel within 72 hours before my stay so as to charge my card via terms & conditions, not as a requirement for the first night stay....nothing that i agreed to allowed them to charge my card more than two months before my stay- plus the charge came a month after i made the reservation...

at that point i'd be better off pre-paying the room; can't cancel but you usually get a better rate....
