Standing at bus stops

what about cane chair?? I used one due to my PoTs last week while at disney. Instant chair and can be used while walking as a cane, It was a trip saver for me...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I honestly can't imagine that either grandparent would like the idea of having to push a wheelchair or some other device around, nor would they enjoy the hassle of an ecv. I'll have to work some more on our plans.

I suggest the two of them take an uber/lyft. We've used those at WDW with no problems. It would get around the bus situation but of course it does involve walking from the drop off/pick up lot. With your large group you could also consider a Minnie Van - which is more expensive but is a very nice service and the pick up/drop off area is usually about as close as you can get to the gates. When we used to drive down, we'd often drive to all the parks except the MK and it wasn't bad at all really....so a car/van rental would work well too.

As others mentioned, if one of them would rent/use a WC or rollator, they could board the bus early. I've also seen people who use canes and could not do stairs wait in the WC line so they could do the ramp. I use an ECV at WDW and they board me first. My family usually just gets in the regular que though. Sometimes they get to the park before me if there's a lot of people waiting with mobility devices. We're almost always on the same bus. I'm just thinking it may be awkward to have your whole family in the WC que because you have a large group and all of them would board first (which makes those in line not always so happy with you and them). Of course they'd still be stuck standing in the que and it sometimes can take a long time - especially returning from the parks to the hotel after fireworks, etc.

The resorts with several bus stops seems to have more seating/less people per stop (like CSR). At those resorts it's a bit easier to sit and wait for the bus - unlike the value resorts which have actual que lines. At some of the mods/deluxes they may be able to sit and wait for the bus. Getting a seat on the bus is a whole other issue tho and you still have problem of getting back to the resort.

The lack of benches is astounding. I'm not even old and realized way to late In our trip that my shoes were actually horrible for standing. I was in the worst pain all up my legs and back and to find a bench was an adventure.

The only line we waited for was smugglers and that was a 2 hour torture fest. If it's standing that is the issue I recommend fast pass only and Uber/Lyft. Even the monorail was hard due to no benches while waiting and possible standing room only.

I was able to walk 30k steps just fine no issues but once the movement stopped it was bad times.

They are not allowed to be used as sets they are very unstable and I saw someone fall out of one and break their arm While you were lucky no CM asked you not to use it as a set and you did not fall. I would feel bad if I gave information that broke park rules and they were asked by a CM not to use it and or fell and got hurt

I had no idea they weren't allowed in park , I used them throughout all 4 parks when I need to sit. The one I have is not unstable? I have used it for the past year everywhere I have gone. The one I have you are suppose to straddle for stability. But thank you for the information, I am a rule follower and would never want to break park rules.

Even with a DAS, you can be standing and waiting in a line for quite a while. Having something to sit on when needed sounds like the best option. I know it is a hard mental hurdle to get past when you start to need devices like this. But it is just part of getting older. I fought tooth and nail on using reading glasses, but realized how stupid it was to put it off. We all age, and we all will most likely need some kind of aid, nothing wrong with that. Just be happy to be alive and healthy enough to go to someplace like WDW. Have a fun trip.

Never saw the Modern Family DisneyLand episode, huh? Jay bought Gloria Minnie Mouse furry slippers because her high heels were making her miserable :)

Yep. That's the exact style @gap2368 was collapse.

not sure what style you use the the one the person fell from looked like this found two pictures on Amazon of the type I saw. It is really the only type I see when I see them at the park ( mostly used just as cains )

As previous posters suggested, I would strongly recommend having some rental company numbers on hand and/or book with a company that doesn't charge any cancellation fees, even if you cancel day of and doesn't require a credit card to book (possibly talk to them an explain the situation) so that there will be equipment available should you end up needing it. There are companies that will work with you on this.

I would look into renting a van. I think the biggest problem you will have is dealing with the buses. If you are staying at a moderate or deluxe resorts they do have seating at the bus stops. But if it is busy you can't both be seated and be waiting in line for a bus. It is one or the other. And what happens when the seats on the buses are full?

mine is very similar, I just can't imagine falling from it especially when it's pretty low to the ground. But I really appreciate you letting me know its a Disney no-no, are rollators allowed that would be my second choice?? Is there somewhere that lists what's not allowed? I wont be going back till later this year, and God willing I may not need and aid. but would love to have options if I do.

you can use a roller. I have no idea howshe feel a CM asked her not to use it as a set she was pretty up set and when to sit down when the CM left and was setted for a few seconds before she feels I was not realy looking at her when she fell heard her scream and saw her arm after. The CM that asked the lady ( and I have hard other say something very similar) for your safety we ask that you not use that as a chair the lady complained that she needed it and they let her in with it. The CM said it was fine as a Cain but once opened and she was sitting on it it became a chair and they were not allowed.
