Standby line?

I am familiar with the new fast pass program but have read on here about standby lines, what is that? How does that work compared to FP and normal lines?

The stand by line is the normal line.

The stand by line is the regular line for people without FP+. It will have an estimated wait time display showing the wait from the end of that line. The only other line will be the FP+ return line. For popular attractions the stand by line can get really long with very long wait times.
