Standard vs. Preferred

I think your info, Maria, is useful...just as any room report would be useful (i.e., leaky faucet, old couch, less than desirable view). The standard v. preferred dynamic add an element to BWV discussions that does not exist at other resorts. Ussually...same points regardless of location. Given that BWV has this dicotomy, it is not unreasonable to warn someone off of a less than desirable view. That said, from my limited experience at the resort...I think that any of the upper floors and the vast majority of lower floor views are great.

I loved the pond below the window and my boys simply screamed with joy at watching the ducks each morning. getting a clear view of the ToT at night was also great...All of these views and others from around the resort make a Boardwalk view special.

As I said earlier...if you are stuck with PV, because either (i) that's what you've chosen; or (ii) there's no SV left, you are still going to end up with a great room at a great resort! :)

Maria - so you know, I did specifically ask for a pool view because of what you had in your post. I know I might not get it - a request is just that... - but I appreciated your input and took your advice.

But in the end, I'll take what I get and I'll enjoy myself regardless.

Well, the parking lot view was about 80% full frontal view. It's all we could see when we were inside the room (i.e. sitting on the bed or whatever). So, it was a little more than just "looking one way" to see it.
LOL! :)
This is so funny because I knew you were going to say this! I thought of addressing this in my previous post and then thought, No just leave it. I am not trying to be snippy but when I think about views it is always from the balconies. I can honestly say I have never guaged a WDW room's views from anywhere but the balconies. We spend A LOT of time on our balcony and have never really thought about the view from the bed or sofa, etc. Now if I ever get one of the mega bucks rooms at GF that faces Cinderella's Castle, then I will be concerned about the view from the bed! LOL! I once read in someone's trip report about waking up and seeing the castle and I thought: Wow!!, how magical is that??
It is interesting to see how differently we all approach different aspects of our WDW trips.
BTW, I believe your post relating how you could see DH in the car was less than a couple of months ago. I know I am complusive at times and have a good memory; but I did not know it was that good! LOL! One thing that made me remember that post is because I could not and still can not envision nor understand how this could be possible; even after purposely looking at this area 2 weeks ago while in WDW. I am not saying I do not believe you, but I'll be darn if I can see it.
Again you are free to post whatever you wish and I agree that relating our experiences with WDW resorts, rooms etc is what Disney discussion boards are all about. But I also feel as though newbies should know that your villa's view from that general building location for a PV is the very rare exception; not the rule.

Well, I feel this is another difference among people. I'm sure some folks are like you, Dee, and just consider "the view" from when they are actually standing on the balcony. We kept our curtains open most of the time and were on the 4th floor. So we could see alot from varying points inside the room. I, personally, consider this part of the view. I guess I just take it all in as part of the "experience".....and there were many pleasent/positive things that made up our experience at BWV. Our particular view would just not be something I'd rave about to friends or family if they were spending PV points, that's all. But the resort itself is beautiful.

Well at least we agree about this Dee. I never said or insinuated that there was a large amount of PV rooms with the view I had, so that was never a dissentment between us. My advice was rather just a simple FYI type of thing.
Glad I could help a little and wishing you a wonderful time at the BW Cheyita :D

This is the part that I am confused about. The balcony side of the villa is usually the only location in a BWV where there are windows and outside french doors. These are located approx on the opposite wall from the bed in the master bedroom and the sofa in the LR in a BWV. So in order to have various views from the villa did you have a corner room that had extra windows in the br/lr that faced in a a different direction then the balcony? If so, these are rooms that quite a few BWV members seek out, because they have a larger kitchen/dining area, they have extra windows and have good views from the balconies,
LOL! This is even funnier now because if this is one of the villas I think it is, I have been trying to get one of these villas for years and they are always unavailable! Go figure! :)

Nope---didn't have a corner room with extra windows. These room must be very nice though. By stating I had various views---I just meant that while walking around the room, or sitting at the little table and chair or on the bed we could see the parking lot. It's a little difficult to convey precisely what you are trying to say in posts like this. We could only see the canal, ducks, Friendship boat by actually standing on the balcony. Sorry if I didn't explain this clearly enough. But I must admit, these corner rooms do sound nice. Is there a wrap-around balcony with those rooms also ?

I got one of those coveted rooms! It was a corner room and from the couch and table, I could see the Swan and Dolphin and Fantasmic reflecting off them at night. From the bed, I could see the top of the Keister Coaster and bldgs across the courtyard. From the balcony, the Luna Pool, other bldgs, Swan and Dolphin, Friendship boats, canal and the service vehicles entering the roadway by the canal and the walkers entering the walkway by the canal. And from the extra window, I could see ToT and the Fireworks taking place at 11 PM for a private party, the canal, walkway to MGM and the boats. The room was exactly what you imagined........ Marvelous! Guess I'll never get it again.... But it was a wonderful gift for a first trip! Wonder how Disney will top it on my 2nd trip. Just kidding.... I promise not to have too high of expectations after this trip!
