Standard view, POR?

What are the best/worst rooms for standard view at Port Orleans Riverside? Unofficial guide only helps with water view! DH is a bit testy when travelling- I really don't want to get a room overlooking the HIGHWAY and have to listen to him crank about noise the whole time...he'll never agree to onsite again!

Tell your husband not to worry, he will not get a view of the highway! Standard view at POR means a view of the parking lot (usually partically obstructed by trees, bushes or other landscaping) or of the garden areas and pathways. POR is a beautiful resort and I have never had a bad view there! My favorite buildings are Parterre Place and Magnolia Terrace in the mansion side of the resort. I have never stayed in Alligator Bayou.

There is no highway to worry about getting a view of. Personally I never worry about the view when I stay at a moderate. You don't have a balcony to sit out on. So unless you're planning on sitting in your room looking out the window I don't feel the view matters too much.

We had a standard view in the mansion at POR and our window looked out at bushes on the riverside of the building. However, we never opened the drapes as we were too busy during the day. I would think it would make more of a difference if you actually had a balcony.

At POR of any of the moderates, there are walkways (instead of hallways) outside the room. Your window looks out over that, with people walking by outside. Because of that, we tend to keep our curtains shut, so we don't really worry about the view.

We had a room right along the Magnolia Bend parking lot once, and there wasn't any noise problem from the lot.

Just make sure that you request a room that does NOT look out over a parking lot and you should be fine. Our first room was right on top of the Parterre Place parking lot and I wasn't too happy with it. It also happened to be right next to a big air conditioning unit and the noise kept us up all night. So we asked to swich the next morning and our new room was still in PArterre Place had a nice view of some trees and the quiet pool off in the distance. From what I can remeber, at least on the mansion side, the parking lot rooms are the only ones with a really bad view.
