Standard view poly or AKL club

I may be in the minority here, but I would pick Poly, even if it’s a view of construction. My hotel room is generally for sleeping and showering while on WDW trips as I head to the parks at rope drop and will spend most of the day at the parks. If I lounge at the resort, it will be at the pool, lobby, or bar and rarely in the room. I spend most of my park time at MK; therefore, Poly’s proximity is essential. I also prefer Poly’s theme over AKL's.

With that said, I have stayed at AKL, and I enjoyed it. If I could not obtain a DVC resort reservation at Poly, WL, or GF, I would select AKL.

We booked a DVC studio there for our Memorial Day week trip. It’s a no brainer to me given that it costs the exact same amount as a standard room on the hotel side and you guarantee not being anywhere near construction. There is plenty of availability as well. I prefer the look of the Moana rooms but the DVC setup is more practical for 2 adults staying 10 nights. We’re looking forward to having 2 showers also, it’ll make things so much easier in the mornings.

The Poly is by far my favorite resort, but I have to be honest, if I was the sort of person who was just using the room to sleep/shower and not spending significant time at the resort, I would have a hard time paying those prices regardless of construction. I would just stay at Gran Destino and rideshare (CSR is much more centrally located than it seems). Or if wanting to utilize evening hours Swolphin. But you do you!

We are actually going to try and do a good mix of parks and resort time. We are there 6 days and only got 3 day park hoppers. Other days we will be at the pool and Disney springs

Although I love the Poly, I only stay there with DVC points. If I had to pay cash, I would stay at a Moderate.
