Standard view at Poly-which longhouse?

We liked Aotearoa because it was so close to the GCH, and we could watch the MK fireworks from the marina crossing between the 2 buildings.

My DD and DSIL told me that this little Marina view was like their own private beach.

Why did you hate it? I don't know if I have ever heard that! What hotel do you prefer then>

Oh my! Ask my DH what he thinks of the BC,. I had never heard anyone refer to that lovely sprawling resort as a "dump" but there you go. 6 years later he is still squawking about the time I made him stay there.

We had room 3228 in Aotearoa. Standard view room. Great location plus we saw the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our balcony over the trees.

DD texted me a video of her view during an afternoon rain. Facing the monorail, she was in Heaven. She said it was whisper soft as it ran by, adding to the relaxing music of the raindrops.

I loved Aotearoa on my latest trip. I was on the lagoon side with a partial castle view even though it was classified as standard view.

If we stay there again, this is what I plan to request for my family. DD told me this is the longhouse of choice for the family from that trip on.

Poly was our dream resort but we too were disappointed for all the same reasons and then some. We stayed in Fiji...our room was convenient and large with a nice view of GF/monorail/beach. The bathroom door would not close---like it was not hung correctly....literally would not fit. Make up mirror in bathroom was missing a screw that attached to wall. No convenient towel bars close to shower. Housekeeping was sub par. Ice bucket not serviced/ no coffee pods replenished/ dry creamer in room...really we just moved from movies with liquid creamer in rooms. no towel animals. I agree about the elevators....just dingy looking. Tried to get a 1 pm checkout and never had a response from housekeeping. Also we were not impressed with their table service restaurants or resort shopping.I will say we had a nice experience at Trader Sams...and of course the view of the fireworks. Location to MK is the biggest selling point but I doubt we will pay that kind of money again. Back to WL for us:)

What do you like better about WL? Did you mind not seeing fireworks from WL though compared to Poly beach?

100%

Stayed there for the first time last weekend and wasn’t impressed. No issues but just not blown away for everything you hear about. I don’t know what it was but something was just missing.

And the elevators are SO SLOW. The first time in I thought we were stuck for a moment.

I did like our standard room though in Aotearoa. We had a monorail view but with all the trees it was very tropical. Quiet too and close to GCH.

We’ve stayed at all the deluxes and I think poly is on the bottom of the rankings for me and my family.

What is your favorite in order from most favorite to least favorite of the deluxes?

Seeing the fireworks from resort is not a big deal to us...nice but not a priority. I wonder if maybe I prefer the WL primarily because of memories from staying there when our kids were growing up. They are 24 now! I do always feel like we get overall better value for our money. Never encountered any of the issues I saw at Poly. Relaxed atmosphere with deluxe amenities at WL!

Not wanting to hijack 3DisneyBuggs thread but I wanted to thank everyone who gave views. My girls want the Poly on our 10 day trip in 2021 and anyone who has read any of replies probably knows if they want it I usually give it to them and I was lost on this subject.

Raratonga was great. Had a third floor and was able to watch the MK fireworks from our balcony.

We requested Raratonga and were given Tuvalu which we didn’t love. The little beach right there was cute but views were lacking and that walk over and over got old. If we stay at Poly again we will spring for the pool view.

We stayed in Rarotonga 1803 a few weeks ago. I always prefer the first floor and it was a convenient location for the buses, pools, and GCH. We had a great stay there!
