Hi!

We're planning a trip to Aulani (renting the points) and was wondering if anyone has insight on the standard view 3 bedroom grand villa. How is the standard view specifically? Does anyone know how many of these units there are?

Also wondering if anyone would recommend renting a 2 bedroom and 1 bedroom to save money. It would be nice for our multi-generation family to stay together in the 3 bedroom, but it's also cheaper to split up.

Thanks!

Welcome to the DIS!!!

The standard view GV's are identical to the Ocean view ones except they are on the lower floors. You can check the sticky thread at the top of the Aulani board for info on how many there are. They are called standard view because the trees pretty much block any view. They are very nice units.

We stayed in an ocean view grand villa several years ago. I would suggest the three bedroom over a two bedroom and a one bedroom.

Having everyone in one room will allow for more family time.

I don't think there are very many standard view grand villas. You will probably need to book at 11 months to get one.

I dream of staying in one of those units, even if it's a standard view! Had an opportunity to tour one a few years ago. WOWZA! Go for the grand villa!

There are only two Standard View Grand Villas at Aulani. They are in the Ewa wing on the second and third floors. Because they are so low, their views are obstructed by the roof line of the Ama Ama restaurant and by the palm trees.

This photo was taken from the lagoon looking back at the resort. The Ewa wing is on the right and the grand villas take up the entire end cap of each floor. At this point, the Ewa wing is 11 stories high, so the top floor you see in the photo is Grand Villa #1189. The two Standard View GVs are on the second and third floors, so this photo might give you a feel for what the views are from them.
