Our last cruise was a last-minute "test" cruise (seeing what it was like with baby), so we took advantage of recent discounts offered on Cat 11 Standard staterooms.
Prior to this trip, we had always been in a Cat 5 or 6 Deluxe room and noticed several differences that are not discussed frequently.
I wanted to start a post that would point out to everyone what all the differences are. So please look at these drawings of a Standard and Deluxe (with verandah) room as I begin to list the differences we noticed.
1. The most obvious difference is the split bathroom.
2. The standard room does not have the "steamer-trunk" (the trunk turned on it's side with shelves inside for storage). If you look at the deluxe room, this is the orange box at the foot of the bed to the right of the connecting door.
3. The standard room does not have the "multi-drawer" stand-alone unit. This is the orange object shown opposite the bathrooms between the closet and the connecting door.
4. Not shown in the drawings is the four shelves located in the corner of the "toilet" bathroom (corner of the back wall and the wall to the tub/shower bathroom). The standard room does not have these extra shelves in the corner because there is no corner (opens to the tub/shower).
5. Not so much a difference between the room, but a note on where the drawing of the standard room seems inaccurate.
5a. The vanity shown in the standard room seems bigger than the one shown in the deluxe room. This seems totally false, as the vanity shown in the deluxe room seems to be the vanity we had in the standard room.
5b. The TV does not sit in a unit on top of the vanity in a corner up against the closet. Instead, it sits in a square unit just like the one shown on top of the left side of the vanity shown in the deluxe room. Additionally, this TV unit is not located against the closet but instead was on the right side of the vanity closest to the bed.
5c. The referenced drawings seem to show that the closet in the standard room is just a little smaller than the deluxe room. If this is the case, we didn't notice. (Notice how the deluxe room shows a divider/half wall in the middle of the closet not shown in the standard room). I belive the two to be about the same size.
Who can add to the differences between a Standard and a Deluxe (w/verandah) room?
Who can add to the list of things were the drawings provided by DCL are not quite accurate?
Who can create a similar list referencing the Deluxe Inside stateroom (I can not because we've always had a deluxe w/verandah)?

It's okay, though...CAT11 was the only way we could afford to do another cruise this year. I'm just happy we're going (personal reaffirmation
).
