Standard size SUV

We have a standard size SUV rented (it says Equinox or similar). We are 4 adults and an almost-8 year old. I think we'll have two full size suitcases and three carry-ons (or 3 suitcases and 2 carry-ons, not sure yet). Is the Equinox big enough for us? I've never been in one, and it's a 4 hour drive...

Me, too, but minivans aren't available at our locations. We are either taking 2 cars to the airport (4 hour drive away- but only parking one at the airport) or doing 2 one-way rentals. I can get a minvan TO the airport, but only an Equinox for the drive back home. If the Equinox isn't any bigger than our 2003 CRV, we'll probably do the 2-car thing. I would NOT want to be crammed in the back seat for 4+ hours, hahaha.

I own an Equinix and I would say you "should" be able to fit what you described!

Ideally the 2 full size and 3 carry on. A problem that may occur will be the view from your rear view mirror thru the back window. It will likely be blocked and then having to depend on outside mirrors only. ( hopefully new safety features on the rental too)

I do not see an issue if you would take the CRV you will be fine in the equinox. The 2003 CRV is smaller then the later generations although Honda does an amazing job with space it almost apples to oranges comparison to a late 202? Compact SUV.

I would say a Pilot or Highlander size would be big enough, while as you say, the CRV would be too small. When I googled it, the reply was that the Equinox is a bit smaller than a CRV

I have a CRV which I believe is similar in size. I would say no issues on the luggage but 3 people in the back seat for 4 hours might be tight, even with one being a kid.
