Standard room at WL Recommendations?

We're leaving in a few days for our first stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We have booked a standard room. Any recommendations for a room request? We're not expecting an upgrade (of course, we'll take one if it's offered), but is there a view that I can request other than parking lot that are still standard? We would prefer to be close to an elevator that would be convenient to the pool.

Any help would be appreciated.

I know you are not expecting an upgrade, but it seems that at WL being upgraded from a standard room is the the most common upgrade. Knowing that, the pattern seems to be for them to fulfill requests when they can. If you have requested nothing other than nonsmoking for example it would free them to put you in a better view room. If you check in and find you are not upgraded, you could always ask, "Is that room close to an elevator and convenient to the pool?" If not, they may find you one that meets your expectations. They are VERY gracious at WL. When I checked in a few weeks ago for my solo trip, I had booked standard view. On check-in they informed me I had been upgraded to a courtyard view. They showed me my room and I saw that it was on the first floor. The CM asked, "Will that be OK?" I said I was just a little uncomfortable being on the first floor since I was by myself, and she immediately found me a room on a higher floor with a gorgeous view of the bay.

I, too, always book what I want, and on this trip I didn't care if I saw the parking lot, but the Pixie Dust was nice!! :goodvibes

We just got back a few days ago from a stay at the WL. Originally I had booked a woodsview room but I had to postpone a few days when Katrina decided to sweep across FL. I was able to get a standard room when I rescheduled but did request on the original reservation to be as far down the hall as possible (we prefer to be further away from the elevator because we had a room off the elevator last time we stayed there and it was very noisey).

Anyway, when I checked in I mentioned if it was possible to be away from the elevator. The mgr came over and said he gave us a nice "woodsview" room which was kinda funny since that was probably where we should have been with the original reservation (so yes, we were upgraded).

Our room actually was in the north wing down the hall from the standard rooms that face the delivery areas (this is where I was going to request), but if you look up you can see parts of the MK, the monorail and the CR. The best part about a lot of the north facing rooms is that many of them have great views of the MK fireworks. We were on the 4th floor and could see most of them very easily!

We booked standard and got courtyard. Room #1158 to be exact and it was awful. Lots of noise and down in the "basement" as my husband put it. We also had the loudest and rudest neighbors - slamming doors and screaming from 11PM to 12:30AM. I am NOT a complainer normally. It was a long walk after a long day at the parks with our 2 year old. The lobby and pool area of the WL is impressive but the rooms were not to me for the price you pay. So don't get "upgraded" down where we were!
**** Just my personal opinion **** :)

We are just back from WL last week. We booked standard w/bunk beds. Room 4130 was great! It was near elevator and went down right near the pool-very convenient. The room was very nice, not worn looking like I have read sometimes and we did not hear any noise while we were there. Loved the pool, when we arrived baby ducks were swimming in there. Have a great time!!

We were there last week and had booked a standard, but had noted on our reservation that we would love to be close to the Roaring Forks and on ground level and also close to the boat. We also had requested a king size bed.

We had room 1026 which was really close to the RF (which helped us get a better use of the refillable mug many times a day), was a ground floor room and quite close to the boat too, since we were on that wing. It was a woodsview of the otter pond, so I know we were upgraded even if nobody told us so. We never had a lot of noise outside, though of course if a family comes yelling at midnight in the corridors, you will hear when they pass in front of your door, no matter what floor you are in.

Also we had like a small patio, not really a balcony and it was great and quiet.

The only thing that I would have liked better, was that it had not been an accesible room, but hey, we were upgraded, and after all, even if we had had a bathtub we would never have used it, but the bed and the potty were a bit too high. But, this is a very small but to the great advantages of the room.

We returned 9/3 after 8 nights. I'd booked standard, but asked for bunk beds at check-in and was upgraded to a pool view. It was on the first floor (1153) but unlike PrincessHaleysMom, we had a great experience down there. We thought it was nice and quiet; in fact, the one evening that it was a little noisy at the pool around 11pm we heard a security guard outside telling folks to quiet down or they'd be asked to leave, that other guests wanted quiet.

We loved the little patio that allowed us to enjoy the garden space and still see our kids/call them in from the pool. We were just a short walk to Roaring Forks, quick walk to the lobby.

We loved it, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay on the first floor again!

It might surprise you to know that you were given an outer courtyard upgrade.

Dan -

Thanks for letting me know, I didn't realize we were upgraded. We checked in at 10AM and the room assigned to us wasn't ready so she found 4130 for us. I did think it was too nice of a view for "standard".
