Do standard rooms have balconies? And what exactly are the choices of views?

A standard room at the Polynesian will look out onto the gardens. You will not have a parking lot view. As far as balconies, most longhouses have balconies on the 3rd floor only. The exception to this is Tahiti, Rapa Nui and Tokelau (I think). That's because these are the newest buildings. They also have 2 sinks instead of one in the bathrooms (the newer buildings). We stayed in Tahiti last June in room 3010. The view was nice, but I think I'd opt for a 1st floor room because you get a private patio and a little more privacy.

Scanne - hi. We are staying at the Poly starting with June 17 and I thought that the 3rd floor would be a better view since you are up higher. But from what I am reading, it seems a lot of people liked the first floor. I am just curious if you can tell me how the first floor gives you more privacy as you described. Is there more of a partition between patios that the third floor balconies don't have? Thanks for any help.

Hi Pitter,

I think the patios seem more secluded because of the foliage that surrounds them. When you're on your balcony, you can't see anyone on either side of you, but people walking through the resort can see you and you can see them. Also, not that this is a big deal, but the elevators are in the middle of the longhouse, and if your room is on an end, you'd have to walk a little. Now, this isn't a big deal to us, but to some it is. When we stayed in 3010 in Tahiti, we usually used the stairs on the outside of the building because we were on the end. We only used the elevator if we were coming from the TTC or when we checked in/out.

I also think I'd prefer a patio because there are lots of ducklings and other cute animals that roam the grounds. It's fun to watch, especially if you have kids.

Hope this helps!!!!

Have a GREAT trip. Wish I was going.........

Just FYI. Rapa Nui on one side looks directly at a parking lot with nothing but sidewalk in between.

So if I have a standard room can I request Tahiti, ground floor with a patio?
