Standard or Hopper tickets? New ticket strategy...

Ok, lets say we stay 7 nights/8days …. We are planning on attending the parks approx. 5 days… however if one of the events (Fantasmic, SpectroMagic, etc…) doesn’t occur on the day/night we are in that park or weather cancels the event, I would definitely want to go another night to see it.

In this case, a Park Hopper Pass would be the most logical…however with the new ticket structuring, would a 7 day standard pass be the best choice? This would give me 2 extra possibilities (or extra days) of entering or so called hopping to 1 other park any day I want correct?

Basically… lets say I go into the Magic Kingdom with my standard park pass but want to head over to MGM that night to see Fanstamic that I missed the day before… I could then use another one of my single passes to get in and would have 2 options of doing that throughout the week correct?

5 day park hopper for 2 = $470.74
7 day standard ticket for 2 = $423.88
difference of $46.86 and option to hop twice or 2 extra days

you're kidding? how do they know you are using 2 tickets the same day?

hmm... this sucks... time to rethink my strategy

From the Admission FAQ at the top of the forum page:

Admission FAQ said:
If I have a ticket that does NOT allow park-hopping, can I just use another day from my ticket to get into a different theme park?

No - you won't be able to that. If you want to know why read on. But I warn you - it gets a bit technical. Just a bit though.

The ATS ticketing system is designed to look at your admission in terms of number of days, and whether or not your ticket has park-hopping. It does NOT look at your admission as number of times through a turnstile. For example, if on Monday you went to the Magic Kingdom with a non-park-hopping ticket, and later on Monday evening decided to go to Epcot: when you put your ticket in the turnstile at Epcot, the computer's internal monologue would read something like: "This ticket has been used today. This ticket has NOT been used at Epcot today. This ticket does not allow park-hopping." It then would not release the turnstile.
