Stacking Room Code/Free Dining?

I just called to see if I could add the free DP to my existing Dec 2010 trip. I did book that room on a 40% off discount code, but I was hoping they'd let me stack with free dining. She told me that if she took my room discount code off and added the free dining (plus upgraded to deluxe) I'd be paying an extra 1000.00 since my room code was so good.

Does this sound accurate? No code stacking?? Anyone know of a way to get both a room promotion and a free dining promotion? Thanks in advance!

it's my understanding that you cannot stack codes. it's either going to be one code or the other. When she said it would be $1000 more, I imagine because you're being switched to rack rate in order to use the free dining code. But Disney won't let you use both. You just have to determine which code will save you the most and be most beneficial for your needs....

I agree. Disney, like most other businesses, will not allow you to combine discounts. So it's either a discount on your resort OR a free dining plan for which you have to pay rack rate for your room plus purchase at least a 1-day park ticket for every person in your room. I would personally go with the resort code since it seems as though that will save you much more money. If you still buy your tickets through Disney as part of the package, you will be able to purchase any of the dining plans. If you buy your tickets elsewhere (Undercover Tourist for example), you cannot get the dining plan. There are 3 ways to qualify to purchase the dining plan (all of which of course require you to stay on property):

1. Purchase a package (resort plus park tickets for everyone in your room)
2. If you are AP holders, you can buy the dining plan and no need to purchase tickets through Disney (unless you get the free dining plan)
3. DVC members staying on points can purchase one of the dining plans (but they cannot get free dining)

Disney has never allowed stacking of codes. Can you imagine a family of four adults (two real adults and two teenagers) getting 40% off at a value and then free dining too? For an eight night stay they be saving about $310.00 on the room then another $170.00/day ($1344.00 for the week) on dining, so about a $1650.00 savings for the week. No way is Disney going to give that kind of discount for a Value resort. Throw in a kid under three y/o that gets to eat for free anyway and would be eligible to stay in that room too in a pack and play and Disney would be paying them to come down there.:rotfl:

I doubt that Disney would lose any money if they allowed stacking of codes. Think about all the other things you spend money on whilst in the parks, how many more trips you could make.... but anyway, moot point.

Also, my question in particular was in reference to a Deluxe resort and a deluxe dining plan so Disney would still be making a significant chunk even if both were discounted.

Simply doesn't hurt to ask if you can combine discounts and since you've all answered my question, I say thanks!!!!

This logic only works if with the current codes they aren't fully booking most nights. Disney would be losing money for every dollar in extra discounts they give that aren't required to fill the rooms because as long as they come they will spent the money anyway.

From a purely financial standpoint lets say Disney knows customer X has $3000 to spend. If they pay $800 for the room and the rest on food and merchandise or spend $1000 on the same room and the rest on food and merchandise which is better?

The second one is... because that extra $200 on the room didn't give any more services so its all profit. Where if they spent the $200 on merchandise some of that wasn't profit. So unless you really think that people will spend more money TOTAL if they got a cheap room over a more expensive one the logic really doesn't work.

Nope, no stacking. Right now the only way to get a room discount PLUS free dining is to be British, I think. There was an offer for British guests only, I believe 30% off plus free dining, had to book at Saratoga Springs.
